I got one from eBay (a 16k switchable one) for £7.50 a few weeks ago. I think they turn up quite often.

Ultimate Expander or MegaCart are good options to for RAM expansion (plus other features)

Hi guys, thaks for quick response.

Yes, concerning e-bay, I need to kick myself into using it (never bothered before but maybe it's time).

the Mega cart, you can use it as a ram cart without loading the games ? that is kinda neat, I will look into it right now. Isn't the inventor Canadian? should make it easy for shipping.

Yes, you can use MegaCart as just a ram expander without launching a hame. MegaCart can be enabled to have your Vic-20 expanded to a total of 39,693 bytes. (3K ram expansion + 32k ram [blk1,2,3,5] + 3,583 bytes).
Most of the utilities on the MegaCart also allow you to use expanded memory (and select the memory configuration you desire).

MegaCart was really a collaborative effort by Denial forum members, collecting & organizing ROM images, providing ideas, etc.
Main credits are - Graphics by Ral-Clan (Cornwall ON), Music by Carlsson (Sweden), Menu + game fixes + custom character set + testing by NBLA000 (Italy), hardware by 6502Dude (Toronto ON).
Shipping is not a big issue. MegaCart has been sent to 17 different countries so far.

Has the Mega-Cart made it to Australia and New Zealand?

I wonder how many different US states have Mega-Cart owners. Off the top of my head, I can name a few:

Rhode Island (rhurst)
New York (fsporsche)
Illinois (Jeff 20)
Georgia/Louisiana (saehn)
North Carolina (SkyDivinGirl)
Vermont

Wow, four of those are original member states from the Declaration of Independence.

ha! maybe you should dream a bit more... like say wishing that at least one makes it to Africa? now that would be exotic. maybe the best chance is South Africa (less exotic)?

I've heard stories about Commodore computers in third world countries but never saw pictures and such. I remember having seen old pictures of apples II in Africa with small children typing/playing on them, but no commodores.

One very weird story I heard is that until very recently, some traffic lights were still controled using commodore computers (I don't know if the person was referring to an african or asian country). It seems weird to me, but then again... some poor countries are keeping some objects and machines for a long-long time, for lack of ability to buy recent equipment... that part of it makes sence at least.
