Zipstick joystick with the VIC

Post by bobbyd »

I assumed that any "DB9" connector joystick would work on the VIC20 but after reading some on here I might be wrong.

I had a black (with yellow buttons) microswitch Zipstick joystick with my C64 years ago and was going to buy one for my revamped VIC20.

Does anyone know if this will work ?

thanks

Yep, they'll work. As far as I know pretty much every 9 pin joystick will work on the Vic. All C64 compatible sticks definitely do. :)

There's contention with regards to Megadrive/Genesis controllers but even Master System pads work on the Vic.

Not sure they do.

Some Spectrum and MSX joysticks look the same but aren't.

Many models come with 2 leads one grey and one black 9 pin connector so you can tell which to hook up.

Machine specific joysticks won't always work on Commodore / Atari.

Stick with Commodore or Atari compatible sticks.
