Coco new color modes found...
Just to pass along to you guys here, We're all friends in the old computers realm.....Well here's a short story....
Coco3 HAD a 256 color mdoe planed, but it got "scraped"(Hidden) when it went into production. Well the guys at Coco3 com (Briza,Jason,PotatoHead,RG,And everyone else) found a way to do a near-256 colors pictures on the Coco by artifacting color pallets in a High-res graphics screen to produce the right color bursts and blend the right colors. Right now it's pretty dang cool, and was just recently figured out. Its nice, especially to scroll the screen now you had to do it half byte every time, so now you can do it whole-byte and it will save some CPU time for misc. stuff
Pretty cool, right?
Another cool thing is the newly made SID simulator for the Coco (All versions if I remember) Don't know who made it or much about it but it's supposed to be pretty neat.....
Well what have you guys got YOUR C64 to do that's Really awesome? I truthfully want to know ^_^

Moved topic to "Other Systems".

Re: Coco 3 256 color mode "semi-found"
That's cool, but without screen-shots this news falls a little flat.aaronrls01 wrote:Well the guys at Coco3 com (Briza,Jason,PotatoHead,RG,And everyone else) found a way to do a near-256 colors pictures on the Coco by artifacting color pallets in a High-res graphics screen to produce the right color bursts and blend the right colors. Has Coco3 found any software for it? I'm just trolling too . . .

Meh, there's some stuff being made, mainly to develop your own software, alot with the 6309 instead. SuperIDE is pretty nice, hook up a HDD to your Coco using an interface, plus disk drives, plus a flash card at the same time, we have one it's pretty cool.
There are screen shots on it and videos and such, here's some.....I think for any computer back in the 80's this is ridiculous XD
http://www.coco3.com/community/2010/03/ ... ct-colors/
There's a video I am pretty sure, hard time finding it, though
I checked out that Denial game pack on youtube, next guys! I like the simplicity but it looks so fun. I really wana learn 6502. I wouldn't mind doing it on this Vic-20 or C64, But I really wana get into NES programming so yeah......Its too neat though, you guys have a page here about the exact specs of the computer?
I wish 6502 was a little easier to use, though.....Kinda barbaric with only 1 register and 2 pointers, that are 8 bit lol XD

Funny, I think that's what makes it easy to use. I tried some Z80 programming a few years ago and I couldn't wrap my mind around all those registers and all the different ways to accomplish the same task. With the 6502, there are usually very few ways to do something; you only have the accumulator and the X and Y registers and a few ways to use them that are easy to remember.aaronrls01 wrote:I wish 6502 was a little easier to use, though.....Kinda barbaric with only 1 register and 2 pointers, that are 8 bit lol XD
Alternatively, you can view the whole of zero page as 256 8-bit or 128 16-bit registers at your disposal.

This is a much better demonstration of what is possible:

It's a shame the 6809 was never put into a decently architected machine!

Pretty sweet development from what I gather. Thanks for sharing this.
But that aside, I agree. It would've been nice if the 6809 was put into something a little more graphically oriented.
Clearly you're forgetting the greatest computer of all time: the Commodore SuperPET.Kweepa wrote: It's a shame the 6809 was never put into a decently architected machine!

That colour mode is really impressive. It always good to see these old dogs play new tricks - it's the thing I love most about the Vic. The recent developments in sprites, Mikes paint program, 40 column text in games, voice in Berzerk and a whole raft of other things over the years... I love it!

Er, for that 8-bit computer class of the time, that would be the Commodore 128D. Fast 6502-based processor with a built-in Z80, dual monitor modes, expansion ROM socket, full C64 compatibility with a just as compatible built-in floppy drive, in a wonderful metal chassis using a detachable keyboard? But I understand your claim is appropriate here in Denial.Wilson wrote:Clearly you're forgetting the greatest computer of all time: the Commodore SuperPET.
You can always soup it up with one of these too.

I agree guys, I was at a thing and they had a history of computers thing, and they had lots of compyters, coco to sinclair to vic and all.....But the C64 was the only one hooked up and yes I do agree, I like it's graphics.....But it is character based. The Coco 3's graphics were great but you had to be an awesome team or person to make a game around it, and plus the thing would be HUGE.....Here's a games list....Pretty cool....I really like the C64 truthfully, just not the 6502....And 6809 is WAY different then Z80, No combining registers, Just X and Y for pointers, A and B for accumulators, Which could also be read as D, a 16 bit accumulator or pointer. Its not too complex but is kinda different.....
Games list:

My coolest looking games list:
http://nitros9.lcurtisboyle.com/pacman.html
http://nitros9.lcurtisboyle.com/pacdudemonstermaze.html
http://nitros9.lcurtisboyle.com/z89.html
http://nitros9.lcurtisboyle.com/sinistaar.html
http://nitros9.lcurtisboyle.com/spaceintruders.html
And definently the way most impressive:
http://nitros9.lcurtisboyle.com/donkeykong.html
Read the description below all those pictures. That is WAY incredible....
All of those are for Coco3, most coco1 games had either really good or bad graphics, not really inbetween.....
Also, anyone else see that new NES game? That is really cool too, I love vintage games and hardware. So underpowered.
