"Sorry, but this board is currently unavailable. Please try again later."
Anyone had their fill of that?

I agree, it's very annoying. Jeff, any idea what's causing it? It only affects the forum, not the other parts of Denial. Some kind of database trouble?

When I go into settings, it simply has the board switched to off! I set it back to on and it's ok. It's like gremlins or something. I think someone must still have the password and is just screwing with me.
Remember. I still need help upgrading the software. No one has been able to offer help with that. Bbell also did something with the database and has since disappeared from the scene... The whole thing is a mess. Sorry.

Jeff, I suggest you consider switching over to SMF (Simple Machines Forum). It's what I've been using, and I've found it very easy to use and well supported. Apparently, it can convert your existing phpBB database to an SMF database.
http://support.lunarpages.com/knowledge ... rticle/312
One of the advantages to this that I see is that you could run SMF alongside your current phpBB forum software to see how it works, with minimal risk to the original forum.
The biggest advantage that I see is the ease of use. Upgrading, updating, adding mods, managing forums...you don't need to be an expert, and the learning curve isn't bad at all. Like I always said, if I can do it, anyone can!
Plus it's free, so there's really nothing to lose.

All I need is a trusted volunteer with good knowledge of such programming and free time to devote to an upgrade.

I might have a go at helping you later in the spring.. mid-May perhaps. Remember to PM me if the matter still remains.

I really have reason to believe someone has been poking around in there.

I really hope that's not true. It would be nasty if 'they' decided to do something a little more malicious... although, this is annoying enough.

Couldn't you just change the passwords?

Wish I could say that about all the women I've dated recently

I'm sure of it now. And the solution is not as simple as it seems.

I there any way to find what IP address the person is logging in from and block that?

I have a few volunteers who want to upgrade the board. I am waiting for each to get back to me about the details. This will be taken care of when the time is available. Sorry about the inconvenience. I want to make sure I'm not too hasty.

I'm thinking whenever we/you/they do the upgrades, perhaps it is time for another overhaul of the sections?
For example a majority of the topics in Games is about development or porting of new games. Sometimes there is a spill over to Programming. Perhaps a new section Development would be in order, with subsections for programming issues (Basic/ML/C ?), discussions about new software, sound and image processing. It would offload Games to be discussions about ready made (mostly the old) games.
We can probably think of other crossovers or gaps in the forum structure. Jeff has remade Denial at least twice since its original launch.
