Gamebase Vic-20

Post by Xanadu »

The trend for compiling 'Master' software lists seems to have gone down the route of Gamebase, i.e. gamebase64, gamebasest, gambasesnes

Is anyone interested in doing a joint project between all of us to make a Gamebase Vic-20 as the definitative reference. I have lots of old magazines that I can get info from

This site has 338 original TAP files!

Keep me posted. I too have some old magazines and a book called "The Best Vic/Commodore Software" ISBN 0-517-42473-8 published 1984. It lists both commodore 64 and vic 20 software during this time frame. 192 pages.

Hm, I don't understand "many of the games have never been transferred to the PC". While not everyone have been archived, I think a vast majority of the more known ones are around on one place or another.

Does the GB projects work only with original releases (cartridges, TAP images, maybe a single D64), or will games only available in compressed format also be included?

I notice my 2002 MiniGame entry "VIQ-Bert" was among the test setup for the gamebase.. cheers! :D

Maybe this initiative to create a GameBase 20 should be mentioned to the CafeVIC project members, both to avoid any confusion about competition and to lure interested members to participate, since both projects have similar or identical motives. I'll send them an email, ok?

I would be keen to chip in where I can aswell. I still have a heap of Aussie tapes that I need to convert to TAP format.

I took a copy of ARMAs collection, including scans. Not sure if he added any after I copied them, but anyway.

Also of the tapes I own, I have made hi-res scans of the full inlay, not just the front cover.

Cheers

Ok, sent a message to the other group of pioneers - let's see if it yields any results.
