20 Line Contest: Ice Cavern

Post by ravenxau »

Here is my first entry, Ice Cavern. Throw rocks at the ever encroaching ice crystals with the space bar. I may update the game at some point but I thought I should post something after requesting the deadline extension. :)

P.S. Having just got a replacement vic from ebay, man it's great to program on the real thing instead of an emulator for a change. (HDD64 makes a great file server too!)

might have to right click and 'save as'

My computer wants to save the program as an HTML document (for both left click and right click). I really want to play this. :(

sorry about that  I didn't think tripod would have that problem.
Try this link :-

DON'T UNZIP IT. Just rename it to icecavrn.prg

Tested and works on real vic and PCVIC. (Vice still to try)

I am using Ibrowse on an Amiga... When using "Save as..." I get a file called icecavrn.zip, but the contents is html, saying "We're sorry, but this page is currently unavailable for viewing. If this site belongs to you, please read this <b><a href="http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/geo/geo-08.html">help page</a></b> for more information and assistance.<br>

Mmh,

I'm not able to get it, too. It says "Page not available" and so on, are you sure your link is still ok?

He understands the concept of publicity (just like Prince or Madonna)... now everyone's waiting on this one.

I think it is the server. Yahoo pages don't seem to let you exchange files, only HTML. THat's what I remember from the freebie pages.

It will be terrible if you all think the game stinks! (it is only about 10 lines)

that's ok. I don't think anyone has commented much on either of the other 20-line games. It is a difficult artform to squeeze a game out in a few lines.

Got it! I was able to get a working .prg for this game. I had to rename the .zip to .prg, load it ,8 (not ,8,1) in VICE, then resave it to a D64 and finally extract it again with Win1541. Phew!

It's pretty fun, I'm off to try it on my real VIC. :-)

Note! The game ends instantly if you have memory expansion, at least in VICE.
