No, it's not a joke: it got even faster.

Screen address calculation has been improved while working on Art Of Destruction and lots of them have been removed in the process. Enjoy! 8)

Downloaded, mirrored, nice! 8)

BTW, how is it that this old man has the paltry hi-score of 364 attached to this?

- THE (TRUE) GOOD REVIEW -

You got a nice feel in this game. The sound is really enhance the game a lot. The parallax scrolling stars adds much to the game too. Pulse even starts with lots of action when getting upgrades quick for more destructive blast power. I get some sort of R-Type feeling when playing this game, but not even R-Type was so packed with action from start and the ST version of R-Type feels pretty lame in comparison to your game Pulse.

Well done. :)

- THE (BAD) MADE UP REVIEW -

Puls is so bad...

*crowd in the background*

- How bad is it?

It's so f**king bad that i rolled around on the floor banging my head in the door post of frustration after the first level...hysterically screaming BRAIN DAMAGE continuously for two hours and then i got a trip to a shrink.

Pulse can damage your health seriously...

:P :D

(it's quite fun writing bad made up reviews) ;)

Some magazines are writing reviews about Pulse and they slapped me around for the glitches a bit. ;) I just ended up banging together a quick +3K hack without the mirror images.

p.s.: I also took the chance to keep the speed more balance at the expense of a little bit of average speed. Do you think that was a good idea?

I didn't think the glitches were too bad given the achievment, so not sure the improvements warrant needing an extra 3K.

Personally, I would have left it alone and maybe released a pulse-2 with more levels and aliens using the whole of the extra 3K (or even 8K) - but that's just me.

I think more people will be able to play an 8K version than a +3K version on real hardware.

Shame it didn't distuinguish between 8/16K. I'd wager vast majority of users have 16K if anything.

A better poll would be something like, what's your highest memory config:

- Unexpanded
- 3K
- 8K
-16K
- Fully populated (megacart or similar)

But making a program for 8K will work on virtually ALL memory expansions except for 3K... so...

Yes, but a 16K program won't work on 8K ;) so IMO not much point squeezing a program into 8K if most have 16K, might as well target just one of the following..

unexpanded
16K
Emulation/(Megacart or similar)

There'll be a review of Pulse on paper: The Micro Mart magazine prints something about it "this week". So, if you're living in Britain you might want to peek inside. I didn't read it yet but they let me know that they find the game "most impressive".

This is crazy! 8)
