I was talking with him about that e other day, Mr. Fickle actually worked with him on it, commodore brought him out to my dads work and it was a very big struggle to fit everything on the cartridge!Mayhem wrote:If your surname begins with A, then I presume you mean Adams
Scott didn't actually write the Vic20 versions of the games, Andy Finkel at Commodore did. Nonetheless it is a pleasure to see you here

My username is my real name. No mystery there. I used to have a VIC 20 web site around 1996-99. So I thought I'd use my real name in case some of you recognise it.
I've written a few VIC 20 emulators over the years. The first one was written in Pascal and called V20. At the time (mid-1996) VICE was the only other VIC 20 emulator for the PC. A couple of others came out within a month or two of mine that were far superior, such as PCVIC.
I rewrote the whole emulator in C within a few months of the original Pascal version and it was a lot faster. And then in 1997 I partially rewrote it again with DJGPP for version 1.3, which was the last C version of the emulator. I lost my web site at some point before the end of the 90s and never spent the time to recreate it.
But I've continued to have a keen interest in the VIC 20 and I've still got a working machine, my original from the 80s, albeit with various bits replaced.
Java is my language of choice these days. I've been doing that as a job for 15 years. Around 2004 I wrote a VIC 20 emulator in Java called JVIC. I never released it on the Internet but the source code is floating around somewhere on one of my flash drives. I've considered tidying it up and putting it on code.google.com but I've noticed tonight that we already have two Java VIC 20 emulators I was unaware of. Well done to the authors. I always love seeing Java projects in my areas of interest.

Hi Lance, great to meet you! You are WAY more advanced of a user of the VIC than me, but I have been a VIC-lover since way back and am just now getting back into the "scene" after WAY too long away.lance.ewing wrote:My username is my real name. When me and the wife (then girlfriend) moved into our first house she wanted kids, so instead we settled on getting 2 cats. When we went to look some kittens the owners had called the last 2 Thicko (as he kept walking into doors and walls) and Mutant (as he had big boggly eyes). As they were the last 2 kittens left we had to have them!
She called Thicko 'Toby' and I called Mutant 'Tetsuo' as I was heavily into Karate and the whole Japanese lifestyle and I loved the movie Akira. I didn't want to call him Akira or Kaneda so Tetsuo seemed the better choice.
Tetsuo went missing when he was about 3 years old and about a month later we found out that he had been run over and killed. I missed him so much that I called myself Tetsuo online ever since as a reminder.
The Tetsu0san is just a fuller version of the same name as there are plenty of Tetsuo's out there.
