At last Sunday's FCUG meeting, we used the "analog" game while waiting for each game to load.Boray wrote:I have tried all the games now (except for the analog board game).

Agreed! The members were surprised at the reversed text and had lots of fun with Go Left.Very nice everything! The mirrored text was fun!

Best video ever! hahaha. Teach me to read your post entirely before clicking on links.
On the issue of Jeff Minter, Gridrunner was my very first game, so I'm very honored/flattered by the comparison. I'll remind you that Minter actually won the Minter versus Griner poll. So, some of you must really like those clones.
I'm really excited to hear that the games were played at FCUG! I would love to know the general reactions to each game.
I've been trying to make simple games with a short learning curve. My greatest concern this time was making games with accessible difficulty levels. My games are always too easy or too hard. This time, each game has a built in difficult switch. For example, press any key at the beginning of Night of the Ninja, and the game will go into EASY mode.
I was also disappointed I couldn't make more. I only had half the number I really wanted to give to active members. I'll be putting up PRGs after the packages arrive; I don't want to spoil the surprise for those still waiting on the mail.
I finally made a war game, so I guess that'll be the first I put up. It also has a skill level, so hopefully if Skill 1 makes for a boring game, Skill 4 will challenge you. I'm guessing most of you are too busy during the next days to even play games.

Played all of the games today again. Hannah played "Go Left" a couple of times too... My favourites are Ten Ten and Go Left. My Go Left high score is 162... or if it is 261
I posted my gift to you today Jeff... I hope you will like it and I hope that you will be a little surprised as well

If it's 261 then you must be some sort of speedy god heh... I've been playing just on keys so far and managed 167...Boray wrote:Played all of the games today again. Lie with passion and be forever damned...
Though our meeting went twice as long (4 hours instead of 2 hours), we still didn't get to everything on the agenda! With the filmmakers' camera rolling, we opened up the Steampunk C64 package and examined the computer with all of its niceties and flaws. Then it was time to play with the VIC-20 Multicart/Development Cart. After checking out a few games on that, we got to the Denial Collection 3. We were only able to get to play some of the games -- The Improbable War, Ten Ten, and Go Left (not to mention the analog game, Two Too).Jeff-20 wrote:I'm really excited to hear that the games were played at FCUG! The strategy game, Improbable War, was the second favorite among the members. Our treasurer remarked that in game play it was similar to a Japanese game (the name which I forget). Because Ten Ten was thinking puzzle-type of game, the members did not get enthused about that one. However, the favorite, Go Left, brought cries of delight ("I'm getting dizzy!") from the members and filmmakers. Rmv was so good at it that he was accused of being a "ringer".

We had a brief look at Digimaster for the C64 and the Amiga CD-32 with SX-32., but by 3 p.m., the filmmakers had to return to Hollywood, and the rest of us had to tear down the set-ups. We never got around to the last 3 digital games of the Denial Collection 3 nor to David Murray's Planet X1. Those will have to wait until the January FCUG meeting!

I wonder how much of Go
Left will be in the documentary,

Yes! Canada comes through. Most of the packages were directed to Canada (followed by Sweden, then UK, then USA in order of quantity). I'm still waiting on word from Germany, Italy, Australia...
10 total confirmed arrivals so far! About 25%.
I'm a little surprised Canada is now beating Sweden on arrival time, but it seems most of Sweden's packages have already reached their destination. Perhaps Carlsson has a questionable delivery person.
I'm so excited to get feedback. Go Left was my favorite to make, but I didn't expect it to be the best received program. I had high hopes for the Ninja or War game. I'll post one of them to the forum later on. I just didn't want to ruin any surprises for those still waiting. Maybe more of you will have time to play during the holidays from work.
