Been playing around with my new NTSC-VIC and noticed something strange. I always use VIC DOOM as a test if the system works, but using Final Expansion3 this would not work. I get to the title screen, choose the level. It goes to the level screen and loads the level, but then either the level screen stays blank or the computer goes to BASIC (like RUNSTOP/RESTORE).

I then tried the same computer with my Mega-Cart and it worked! So the NTSC VIC itself seems fine.

On my PAL-machine BOTH Mega-Cart and FE3 work with VIC DOOM. So it's only the NTSC-VIC and FE3-combo that won't run VIC-DOOM.

Did I find some obscure bug? Has anyone else gotten VIC DOOM to run with an FE3 on an NTSC-machine?

I am also willing to buy one.

I have checked your website but find no news about the FE3. Is it on a specific page perhaps?

Also, is it coming with a plastic cartridge, label, etc. as previous models?

Thank you.

You can choose different options: kit (55 €), with or without case (+12,50 €) , with or without label (+3,50 €).

To Diddl and others: I have received my FE3 rev. 10, however all assembly sequences I have found refer to previous versions (rev. 9 in the best case). Although the place for the extra components looks quite obvious, has the assembly sequence for rev. 10 been published anywhere?

In first place, I have seen that the "jumpers" are no longer provided with the kit. Shall I desume that they are no longer necessary?

Also, there are four dip-switches in the lower-left corner. Which are their respective functions, and how should I set them for "normal" operation?

Has a user's manual for the FE (in english, of course) ever been written?

Thanks.

Okay, thanks, there goes some more recent assembly directions.

I have looked around for anything vaguely resembling to a user's manual. It seems that bits of stuff are spread everywhere, and this is so far the most cumbersome retro-computing accessory that I've had to deal with. In the end I came up with a site named "t-winkler.net", that I failed to understand wether it is "official" or kept by a group of users instead. However, it seems that the FE3 comes without firmware. At the end of the theory of links, this is where I have been led to:

http://t-winkler.net/dokuwiki/doku.php? ... e3firmware

Can please someone else inspect this page and see if there is a link to download the firmware that I may have missed? May I be damned if I could understand how to download anything from there!

I see that the Final Expansion is out of stock ("Ausverkauft"):

Is there any other place I can order it? Will they build more if I order one?

Does anyone have a copy of the R21 Firmware? The main site appears to be down and all I can find is the R20 version.

Check Back on the FE3 websites next week or so they were hacked and wiped around the 19th.

Version 20 is up on Forum64 but not version 21 or 22 yet.

See note about site hacking in German below
