User Name
Legacy refers to obviously the usage in 2009 of the CBM VIC 20 machine, but the name is a bit older then that, probably stemming from my online games where I was still using windows 98 in 2005 when XP had been a widely accepted OS by that time. I thought the name was fitting. Getting back on the Vic 20 after all these years and actually understanding what it is I'm doing this time is more rewarding, and I'm hoping to gain real knowledge from this community of fellow users. And some of you have already gotten e-mails from me, Thanks for your time and wisdom.
I'm new here and wanted to say hi. When the retro-computing but bit me in the mid 90s, Ward Shrake got me started collecting Vic-20 hardware and carts. Being more of a hardware nut than a gamer, my interests quickly expanded to other systems, but I never lost interest in the Vic. I recently ended up with 3 more of them and some more carts too
I'm glad to find a place with some other people interested in the vic-20 instead of just the C64. Anyway, my user name is just first name, last initial... and nickname for way too long too.

Thanks. Because I have the good fortune of having a messy "mailbox" I thought someone might get a kick out of the following (from 3/3/98):
"Hi there. Glad you liked the page, and I "sold you" on the Vic20. That gave me
a smile; no one else has specifically commented on that part of the FAQ, as yet!"
Ward's reply when I e-mailed a bunch of questions when first taking an interest in the Vic

Calhoun eh? That's a common misspelling of my last name Colquhoun. Pronounced call-hoon outside of Scotland, ca-hoon inside. Apparently the error creeped in as early immigrants to the US and Canada were often illiterate and didn't even know the correct spelling of their own names. Immigration officers got creative, hence Calhoun, Calhoon, Colhoun, etc, etc...

Not exactly... however it may be a Glasgow/Edinburgh thing. My dad is from Glasgow, and oddly, all the other Scots that I associate with regularly in my pipe band are also Glaswegians. Who knows? ... or cares for that matter.Pedro Lambrini wrote:^
