Re: Vic20 Minority Report
More votes please people
Chariot Race has had a two page spread in the magazine in the past, so it may not make it on that basis. But we'll see heh...

Re: Vic20 Minority Report
My #1 vote is for anything but Rockman.
If pushed, I would vote for Jelly Monsters because I haven't really played any of the others, but a Pac-Man clone wouldn't be my pick to demonstrate how exciting and original the VIC-20 is.
What about Mickey the Bricky? It's still a clone, but it's got an amusing and original twist as well as a neat little theme tune. Snake Bite is also a lot of fun.

Re: Vic20 Minority Report
I looked at Mickey the Bricky, I think it was in the original list I made before it got parsed down.
Pac-Man conversion. It was the official version of the game in Japan. Commodore came a-cropper when trying to release it in the West as Atari had the home rights.English Invader wrote:If pushed, I would vote for Jelly Monsters because I haven't really played any of the others, but a Pac-Man clone wouldn't be my pick to demonstrate how exciting and original the VIC-20 is.

Re: Vic20 Minority Report
My other 2 votes go to Myriad - for the multiple sounds.
LaserZone was better than Matrix and Hell Gate I think.

Re: Vic20 Minority Report
I like minter's stuff, but maybe I'm wrong in thinking he's already been well covered.
Re: Vic20 Minority Report
Yes Jeff does get a lot of media but mostly he gets coverage for Attack of the Mutant Camels, Llamatron etc. and not the more unusual Vic stuff.
Hell Gate - 4 ships to control
Laserzone - 2 ships and diagonal controls
Metagalactic Llamas Battle at the Edge of Time - Both Llama and deflector to control and the best title of a videogame ever

Just voted for Skyhawk because I just saw it on a YouTube video and it looks awesome. That game will definitely be on my hit list next time I set up the VIC.

Perhaps a bit late, but I forgot about Predator by HES. That's a neat game.

Predator was in the short list, but didn't make the final 20.

Re: Vic20 Minority Report
Article complete, just needs final rereading and tweaking. My eminent proofreader (my girlfriend) will see if at least she can understand it heh (she's completely Vic20 ignorant!). It should then be submitted tomorrow, and be in next month's issue...

Re: Vic20 Minority Report
We had a slight hiccup with their preformatted page templates, the screenshots have to fit in a certain ratio range and Vic20 screenshots, as you know, don't quite abide by the rules at times! So most of them will need borders top/bottom to maintain the correct proportions. C'est la vie, they still look fine on the page having had a sample shot.

Re: Vic20 Minority Report
My copy of this month's issue came in the post about 20 minutes ago and the VIC-20 article has been replaced with an article about Japanese warrior games . Will the VIC article be in next month's issue?
