The hole in the case perhaps could be used for sticking a cable, or attaching a small LCD (see Stonan's C64 mod) and so on.

There's been a couple of people modding their VICs to make it dark or black as of lately.

Overall, the result is very nice. It is also true of this project.

this Vic is gorgeous, though it's unfortunate that you used the damaged case for it. a C64 top case or another Vic case would've been easy to come by and would've given a much better result. if i'd known this was your intention i could have donated a top case for you. beautiful job though, i hope my paint jobs come out nearly as professional looking.
