OK, another pic: (btw, I just borrowed a digital camera from work, that's why I've been posting so many pictures lately...

)
No longer on the carpet!

nice to see the Pong game running on your revived Vic 20 !
One question: I noticed that the border color on the boot screen is quite green rather than "cyan"-- is that normal for NTSC machines?

I wish I could get these programs onto my Vic. I bought the cable but it doesn't seem to work with my drive.

Well, I think that the colors on my VIC are a little messed up at the moment. I still haven't gotten around to playing with the trimmers (btw, thanks for your post about that). Once I do, I'll be able to answer that question.
Once again, thanks (to you and nbla000) for creating this game! I used to have a Pong console years ago. I loved it! This one brings back a lot of nice memories.

I wish I had paddles, though.

Which cable did you buy? Which floppy drive and what software are you using? What are the symptoms? I'm asking because I had problems with my cable in the beginning, but I finally made it work.

Maybe I can help...

Rork, what game is that you're playing? Looks like the first level of Donkey Kong, but without the sloping girders.

I use the XM1541 cable I bought from
these guys and an older PC (Pentium III). I've heard that newer computers can cause some trouble, but I haven't really verified that myself. Indeed, my laptop was acting up when I first tried it, but it might have been the cable's fault. I'm saying that it might've been the cable's fault, because my first cable was actually messed up, which I didn't realize at the time. I haven't tried it again, after I got a new one.
As for the software, I mostly use
cbm4win with the Windows GUI front-end that you can find a link to on the same web site. Sometimes, I also use the latest beta version (as recommended by ral-clan) of StarCommander, but that apparently works properly only in pure DOS (which I have, so I'm not complaining), so I don't know if I can really recommend it.
My drive is 1571.
At first, I had tremendous problems making this thing work. I could reset the drive, but would get no data transfer whatsoever. I spent hours installing and reinstalling cbm4win to no avail. Then, I realized that the cable was messed up--one of the connections came loose. So, that's my first piece of advice: if you haven't done it already, just make sure that the cable is indeed fully connected. As a reference, I used the
XE1541/XM1541 cable construction kit from the sellers I pointed to above.
Another thing you might want to experiment with is the parallel port type setting (EPP, ECP, etc.). Although it seems like it doesn't really matter on my computer (both cbm4win and SC work in all modes), I currently use the ECP. I've heard, however, that the wrong mode can sometimes impair the connection with your drive.
Well, that's pretty much it. I hope I helped a little.
I can't tell you how happy I am that I have this thing working. It's just amazing that you can get online, download some PRGs, and within minutes, enjoy them on your VIC.

It's Crazy Kong I got from
this site. I would hardly call it "playing the game," though. I don't know if it's me or the game, but the hero moves so slowly, I get him killed right away.

My 9V (two-prong) VICs have a bluish border and my 9V/5V (round plug like the C64) VICs have a greenish border. I hadn't realized how very different the "cyan" color on the two versions was until I compared them side by side.

I'm with you, Jeff. I have a couple of the Wico bat sticks, and although they seem to be really well made, they also are awkward to hold and use. I also prefer the generic Atari sticks.

I have an Ibanez, but I'm thinking of buying a Telecaster too...
Cool! I like Ibanez. I'm thinking about adding one to my collection one day, too.

Personally, I'm not that hot on Fender, but I know some people who would kill for a Start or a Tele. I'm sure they're great guitars. It's just a matter of preference.
Maybe there's a link between VIC users and musicians. I have a Strat and a vintage Epiphone Sheraton. I also have a Martin accoustic and several electic basses, including a 1970s Guild and a Rickenbacker 4003

I'm still trying to start our electronic noise band

We had the conversation
here.
Imagine a CD with strange music like viznut's RL embellished with live instruments. Schema and I both use Fruity Loops. We all know Boray's music. All together we have a dozen composers. If we could have a general theme, each could make a track.
I can provide the webspace to promote it. With all of our international resources, we could have a cult hit!

I play guitar too (mostly my Seagull acoustic) and bass (5-string Samick). I'm not into electronic music a whole bunch, though I do really like Tree Wave. I'd be into helping with something.

All these talented people on here! I'm useless at music, any room for a triangle player?
