Er, thanks, I should have qualified that with the latest browser posted by Fedora QA release engineering ... bleeding-edge browsers don't make for better software. You must be a Windows guy!

I used Ubuntu 9.10 yesterday and today because my vista harddisk died... I managed to install Firefox 3.6 on it... Now I'm back on a newly installed Vista (installing update 37 of 95 right now).rhurst wrote:Er, thanks, I should have qualified that with the latest browser posted by Fedora QA release engineering ... bleeding-edge browsers don't make for better software. The Ubuntu installer couldn't handle my widescreen monitor so I didn't see the whole screen, the first installation didn't work at all so I had to do another one. That Ubuntu version only used one of my cpu cores because of a bug in the linux kernel. It also run my cpu on 1GHz instead of 2.8 most of the time, turned on the webcam when I wanted to turn it off (and vice versa), Spotify would play for a while (through Wine) but then started to sound very strange. The computer wonld't turn off - I had to hold down the power button, and when I plugged it in the next day, it started without me pressing the power button at all.... No driver for my asio soundcard, no Linux Reaper version out there... All I can say is... Thanks Bill Gates for Windows!!!
Linux is much OS for the money though...

That's an amazing horror story using Ubuntu -- it's claim to fame is its unparalleled installation and integration of applications with the OS and UI. Sorry the milk was soured -- may I suggest trying a Live CD first, like this one, and if it works for your system and peripherals, then install it?
Red Hat sponsors the Fedora project, for which I use their enterprise Linux for may systems and clusters at BIDMC, so I naturally gravitated to it. It's a solid performer, not as fancy and not so bleeding edge, but 'feels' comfortable to UNIX engineers, Caché and Oracle database admins, and C and Java developers.

Thanks for the link. I might try it sometime when I get a replacement for the dead hard drive. It wasn't a year old so I should get a new one.

I really think that this program/link should be added to the front page and not just as a listing in the links page as it has great potential to be an intrinsic and unique aspect of this site. Maybe there should also be mention of it in the sign up process for newcomers.
I also think something similar should happen with PRG Starter as it makes Vic emulation in particular more accessible and 'Friendly'.

I'm trying your emulator with my backgammon game:

...but I can't find the undo key (Arrow left at the top left of the vic keyboard). Where is it in the emulator?

Thanks for this. This is cool. Didn't realise it would accept URL parameters. I've used it to share my games on Facebook.
Are there any parameters to set it to PAL?
