C128D power supply smoked up, should I get a replacement PSU

Post by Nathan »

From the seller? I was playing games then the 128s power supply smoked up, I turned off the unit instantly, waited for the PSU to cool down, but the unit won't turn on now :(

Hi Nathan. This isn't a 128 hardware forum so this isn't really the correct place to post your question, but that aside, a smoked PSU on a machine that hasn't been used for a while is often filter capacitors which dry out, get hot and catch fire. If the collateral damage is not bad, you may be able to replace them and carry on.

He tested it before sending and he said it ran 48 hours without getting hot, so it's most likely the PSU itself
