To carry on the OT: I had 7 Vics up until last week. Now I have 6...and so the countdown begins! Even with 6 Vics I still don't have one that allows for non-wibbly-wobbly paddle contro so I'm constantly reminded of their mortalityl!!

I think I'll wait a bit and maybe buy another MC a little further down the line (waiting for the Mark II model :P)

So, will there be software upgrades like iPod? I think the cart could benefit from a shuffle feature: a random game starts (and you need to figure out if it requires paddles or joystick or PAL.) What about "Genius" feature where the cart guesses what I feel like playing? ;)

(shake to shuffle?)

From Cartridge games, Tape/Disk Games and Utilities menus, if you hit CTRL, the navigation bar jump to a random item and by setting the quick mode from the service menu you don't see the info screen (paddle, joy, PAL and other info).

Why not a live update

The MegaCart got a mention (and a picture) in the latest ish of Game Developer magazine, in a two page feature about development hardware for 8-bit machines.

Mega Cart bugs?

Post by oracle_jedi »

Is there a separate thread for Mega Cart bugs?

Some of the issues I have found:

Hellgate is buggy - the sound is wrong the aliens eat into the lower side of the screen.

On my NTSC VIC everything else works ok so far.

On my PAL VIC:

Run Stop / Restore results in a blank screen
SYS64802 also results in a blank screen

In both cases the Reset button gets me back to the Menu.

I believe the author of the game, acknowledged that he did not know of a good dump of this game in following post:

For runstop / restore issue - in which application or game did you encounter this?

For Hellgate, do you have a full working version on a disk/tape ? then you may post it in some place and inform us so all the Vic community will thankful you.

For Run-Stop Restore or SYS64802 in PAL, it works of course, tested a lot of times with many PAL machines, do you have other PAL machines for tests ? may you tell me exactly how you produce this problem ? which Memory Configuration, from Menu or Boot key, etc etc...

PS: Nice avatar Brian

Bizarre.

This morning the Run Stop / Restore works ok. No problems at all.

Despite repeated power cycles yesterday it was consistently producing the blank screen error. I guess we'll chalk that one up pilot error.

I have the original Hellgate on tape and I also think I have a non-buggy version on disk. I will see about uploading it tonight.

Thanks

Thank you, any working version is good for me, Mayhem if you can, send me via email your TAP file and i will compare it with tap/d64 oracle_jedi file once I've them too.

Btw the main thing is that it must be a working version, please check them carefully if you can

Run the tap through tapclean to check if it's a valid tap file/cbm rom loader blocks.
