The fuse of my vic-20 was blown but I could not read its rating. My first attempt with a new 1A fuse did not survive long, now I have put in a 4A fuse. Is that the right one, or is it oversized?

Is it a 9V "two-prong" VIC or a later DIN-powered cost reduced model? The first VIC uses a 3.15A fuse IIRC while the latter has a 1A one.

Thanks. It's a two-prong one. 3.15A is a bit of an an exotic value isn't it? I assume 4A is close enough, beats metal foil

You may have a small challenge finding 3.15A fuse.
I would replace with 3A rather than 4A fuse.

The correct fuse is 3.15A F(ast blow) but you won't hurt anything using a 4A fuse instead.
