VICE 2.0 Released!

when using the new PAL mode along with double scan it tells me there is a "drop in performance" and suggests to revert to the old PAL mode ![Sad :-(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
As regards the screen aspect, I once wrote to VICE-team asking to put a special double size mode for vic-20 with different pixel square, but they did not even reply to my message.
I also tried to add that feature by myself modifying the VICE code, but it was an hell, and all I've managed to get was a 1x1 pixel square VIC-20 emulation (I still have the executable somewhere).

I'm curious about the result... Is the exe working correctly? If so, why don't you upload it somewhere?nippur72 wrote:I also tried to add that feature by myself modifying the VICE code, but it was an hell, and all I've managed to get was a 1x1 pixel square VIC-20 emulation (I still have the executable somewhere).

The GIMP helps us figure out the resulting screen:

yes this is the result. We talked about that some time ago on this thread, see the bottom message on first page...
I just spotted a very odd bug that has been present since 1.22 or older:Macguyver wrote:Is the sound emulation more precise?
I used to think that VICE was extremely accurate with sound but recently I've realized that on some games at least, the sound emulation falls really short.
POKE 36874,255 = POKE 36875,255 !!!
However POKE 36876,255 generates a different note.
I'll see if I can fix this one and send a bug report to the VICE team. While completely reworking the sound is a biggie, this one should be easier to fix.
