Out of interest, is there ANY way for me to bid on this? Or am I going to have to rely on the generosity of someone in Sweden to bid for me? ;)

How, did you counterfeit a box based on photographs on the Internet?

I've got the C64 version complete, but the OEM boxes are universal; the only way to tell which version is inside (without opening it up) is a small sticker on the outside.

My god, try eBay US or UK or something. Even if international bidders CAN bid, how much work do we need to go through to translate into Swedish and sign up for tradera?

I guess it's pointless to bid if Mayhemmers is on the case. I'm always up for sloppy seconds.

Actually the sign up screen is available in English. That's about it though, I've figured out how to navigate most of the rest because the links are always in english still, even if the page text is not...

At least Tradera lets non-Swedes sign up. I believe some other eBay affiliates are not quite as generous, or perhaps it was only in the old days that auction sites in Brazil, New Zeeland and otherwise would throw you out and close your account if you tried to participate as a foreigner (sometimes using a faked address as the system would only accept a local one).

I don't know if mkz has an eBay account. If he does not, question is whether a brand new seller with 0 feedback on eBay would fetch any higher bids on something absolutely rare, than if he sells it on another site with lesser visitors but on which he already has a reputation. Those who saw the auction links on Denial can trust the seller no matter what the feedback is, but assume it is an auction you just stumbled across.

Received cartridges today... thankfully (and much relieved) that all of them work fine. So another of the ultra rare screwball list can be struck off...

Tonight, there was another loose Close Encounters on Tradera, in a bundle of assorted other games. It ended with Buy It Now 300 SEK (25 UKP, 50 USD) within three minutes of listing. :-D

Unfortunately, I don't think the buyer is a member of Denial, but it matters less as the cart is archived since long ago.

In any case, that makes three copies of Close Encounters (one boxed, two loose) appearing within one year, all three in Sweden. Co-incidence? Perhaps the rarity list should get a slight update still.
