Artillery Duel

I like this game for a lot of reasons. It's two-player, with excellent sound effects, simple but engaging gameplay. Nice touches with the animation, such as the clouds and the marching soldiers.
The 'rank' system lets players of mismatched ability compete somewhat fairly. My brother and I played it over and over again when we were younger.
It's a bit tricky to get it to work in VICE, as you have to attach two separate cartridge images, one at $A000 and one at $6000, then do a soft-reset (ALT-R)

I don't know how to get the images to work on a real VIC, sorry. I have the original cartridge so I've never needed to.
Trivia: A version was made for PalmOS, fairly faithful reproduction. Check out http://www.freewarepalm.com/games/artilleryduel.shtml

The two files you listed are no real Commodore files (PRG). They lack the two first bytes with the address for the file. So when you try to load them (,8,1), they will end up somewhere else in memory... You can't even poke first (43,44 etc) to load them because they will then always lack the first two bytes (that the system will mistake for the address). These files has not been saved from a real vic but on some other rom reading system...
The real .prg files can be found here:

On the positive side, BIN files without load address may be required on some EPROM burners. Of course it is easy to take away the load address if required, but I remember the first VIC-20 archive on a German Uni had stored all the cartridge images as BIN, so you would have to append the load address if loading from/storing to other unit.
I guess soon we'll have an opportunity to play the game too and give a comment about it.
