Problem with Lode Runner cart

Post by Mayhem »

Anyone else got a real Lode Runner cart for Vic20? Just got a copy of it, plug it in, title screen comes up. Can access the level editor, but when I try to start the game, the screen wraps in and then the computer crashes to a Ready prompt. Want to know if this is a problem with the cart, or the fact I'm running it on a PAL machine. Cheers!

No problems with mine. I haven't tried the level editor, though. Can you save your created levels to disk?

Well I was randomly pressing some buttons and got to the level editor, so it is in there. You can also save them out as I also randomly found it asking me for tape, disk or abort following some other button press(conclusion being you can load them in).

Sounds like I might have a borked cart then sadly if Mika can run his in PAL land :(

Try to clean the cartridge's connectors with cleaning alcohol.

If the ROM(s) are socketed and you are not afraid of opening/breaking the case, I've heard it may give better results if you carefully lift and reseat the ROMs (quite common on old computers).

Connectors have been cleaned, a usual procedure whenever I get second hand carts. Though I guess I could give it another go. As for opening it, I'll have a look to see if it's easy or not first...
