Nice shooter! Just played it a bit in VICE and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to playing it more on my VIC when I get around to setting it up again.
The readme file made me chuckle too. I had a weakened C64 spacebar also. Kicked it too hard playing Green Beret.

Hey Rich, thanks a bunch man. And Merry Christmas to you too, and I hope you have a great 2025.

That spacebar gave me nightmares. I would show off my C64 to someone, hit the spacebar a bit hard and then the person would burst out in laughter as it comically ejected like a jack in the box, totally deflating my totally serious presentation. I cannot recover.Orac wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 11:08 am Nice shooter! Just played it a bit in VICE and really enjoyed it. Oh and thanks to everyone on here for the super threads this past year.
I'm following Mike's 3d engine series at the moment and the Elite developments are really cool.

Love it Huffelduff. It's got the feeling of 1942. Lots of fun. Merry Christmas!
Re: Pacific Air War (P.A.W)
Very nice looking game - as always
It really has the nice VIC-20 Multicolor-feeling

Re: Pacific Air War (P.A.W)
Great game, Huffelduff. Funny to play, and with very nice graphics. I specially like the detailed 'Landing ship'.
Cheers

Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Thank Tokra. I love the Vics multicolor.
The Carrier is a nice feature of 1942. There is a feature I could not include from the original (among others) and that is the dual fighter escort you get when you destroy a special enemy squadron. Oh well.
Thanks Wilson. Merry Christmas to you too.
Anyway I have a question: Is the PAL version too slow (which means its too easy) ???
It bothers me a lot that I could not get the game timing closer for the two versions.

PAL version is what I tried. I didn’t find it slow or specially easy (In fact, I was killed very quickly first times I tried) but don’t remember having tried 1942 so dificult for me to compare.huffelduff wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 12:05 pm Anyway I have a question: Is the PAL version too slow (which means its too easy) ???

Played this earlier today - WHAT a BRILLIANT Vic 20 Game ! Impressive Stuff, Everything everybody else has said - I echo what everybody else has said - And YES, Particularly Impressed with the End Of Level - Plane Landing on the Carrier / Taking Off Sequence - You really know your Stuff !Lechuck wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 3:41 pmPAL version is what I tried. This would make a WONDERFUL TFW8BIT Game. Shame you cant move around the Screen but you DID explain your reasons why in the "Read Me" File so I DO understand. Oh... The Part where 2 BIG AEROPLANES appear I was like "OH MY" - That knocked me over to see a Vic 20 doing that. This really does have the feel of 1942 about it - And I found the playing Speed of the Game fine.
Would Love to see a Sequel to this... ( Please )

Thanks for testing it out Lechuck. I'm glad you found the speed reasonable.Lechuck wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 3:41 pmPAL version is what I tried. Yeah my explanation is also a way for me to excuse my laziness

I'm going to circle back to this project for a special edition I hope where I'll try to improve the general game, reduce some of the grime and bad code and add some much needed additional levels and stuff. I'm stoked that you liked it.
Hey Beamrider, thank you so much.
Anyway I'm working on a small project at the moment. Hope to publish early in the new year.
