Commodore C16 PLUS4
The Phoenix is a little card that protects the keyboard/joystick port of the TED,
allows you to disconnect/connect the joysticks without risk for the TED.
That's not enough:
Phoenix was designed with recent information uncovered by good guys:
https://plus4world.powweb.com/forum/42748
Moving the jumper in Phoenix will enable a hardware register to mimic the broken one inside the TED correcting the joystick reading error!
If your TED work perfectly with the keyboard but it mix/fail the joystick reading, then Phoenix can help!
Test your joy ports with this simple BASIC program:
10 print joy(1),joy(2):goto10
If 1 joystick is read on both columns of numbers, the port is broken.
It fit C16 (if there is a metal shield it may need to be adapted) and PLUS4 (the metal cover will need to be removed).

Very interesting, I missed that thread in the Plus4world forum, I'll check my C16s, +4 for damaged TEDs, thanks for posting
