Those are good points.
We all know who the elephant in the room is and that's FB.
Until people wake up and realize that FB is a parasite, small niche forums are in danger. There are always exceptions. Places like this and the 6502 forums (lemon64, etc.) seem to still be thriving.
We've recently had a death in the family and, of course, family members post information about that on FB. So I guess it's good for that but when I see lots of "likes" on a death announcement...well, that really seems odd to me.

Cat; the other white meat.
Re: Commodore News Page closes doors :(
I found and followed Commodore News Page through Google plus, the then-alternative to Facebook.
I wonder if the closing of Google plus lead to diminished use of Commodore News Page, and if that's why he stopped.
Can someone reach the author? He might like to join over here.

Good (Commodore) news.. another guy took the whole thing in charge. And provided it with a completely old look . Just click on the link in the more recent post of the homepage.

Oh great, a happy ending at last!
Today they opened with the news about the '80s Commodore user diorama which is really cute, the screen actually works!!! And the cat is a lovely touch. I just failed to understand how is it that it should be a diorama about childhood, while the "programmer" in the diorama is a bearded folk...

The Bearded Guy here...
Yeah, so mom couldn't resist taking this minature 1/12 scale guy she found and painting a beard pattern to look like me 'now'. So since she was building the desk, 'metal' shelving unit, and putting my 'now' Siamese cat in there, I figured I'd let her have this one.
Once the series of articles and videos are done I'll have a a deeper view into the diorama aesthetics and some video of the working 1541 activity LEDs that light up with whatever VICE is doing at the time.
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for sharing!

Appreciated, thank you! Started it in October and it was a good fall/winter project. Still ongoing as I work through the articles and such.highinfidelity wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 8:09 am Absolutely, very nicely done, it looks lovely and I'm sure there's a lot of patience and effort in it!
I didn't know about the Commodore News site, myself, but now that I know it exists I've enjoyed scrolling through the entries, and I'm glad it's being taken care of and not disappeared all together.
