3D printed joystick

Post by beamrider »

I've been after a decent brand-new joystick for the Vic. Having bought a 3D printer for Christmas I've put it to good use.

It uses arcade mechanisms and buttons so has a really nice clicky feel.

I had the same problem as mentioned in the comments, (the mechanism catching on the bottom of the case), so I learned some FreeCad and increased the height of the top box section by 1.5mm.

Congratulations! Should anyone sell this stuff, I'd rather buy it than any other joystick.

Nice work.

Agreed. There are a lot of "hand crafted" sticks out there with arcade parts in generic project cases but I don't like the ergonomics. I like beamrider's design.

Thanks. Sorry, didn't mean to give the impression that I designed it. I only downloaded and modified slightly.

Looks terrific, but what about the ergonomics? It looks quite hard to be held in hand, and one of the two buttons seems impossible to reach. It is not so "on the field"?
GOD is REAL. Unless declared DOUBLE PRECISION.

Haven't used it much but seems okay so far. The buttons are both wired to the same input and just for left/right handed accessibility.

There isn't much resistance in the stick movement.so feels slightly different to the original competition pro.

One thing I didn't like about the competition pro was the really stiff stick, Zip Stick is superior. The buttons on the comp pro were also awful.

I find using one of these nowadays my hands get tired quite quickly especially with something like Centipede, better with a joystick you don't have to hold, or a joypad.

Looks cool though.

Do you know of a decent joy-pad that works with the Vic?
