Vic weather station

Post by Floopy »

Found this advertising in a magazine the other day... I thought this would be fun to share.

Looks pretty cool and I remember seeing the ad for this years ago, but in my years of collecting I have never seen or come across one of these.

Probably is vaporware, unfortunately.

The company still exists (www.vaisala.com)
And it seems there is a user manual for this product (https://novalynx.com/manuals/vaisala-haws-manual.pdf).
I guess it must have actually been released. Pretty rare though, I would imagine!

Nice Finds Bobbi.

After a quick search on ebay I found one that looks like the HAWS .

I wonder if they have any old stock kicking around in the back 40?

Oh yeah! I remember that thing! I wanted to get it, but ended up doing some interfacing with photoresisters and other things with my Vic-20. Much cheaper route :)

Thanks everybody for the information, I keep finding these ads trying to sell the "next thing" I think they are hilarious and creative.I mean who would pay 50$ for a piece of software that keeps your phone numbers in a cassette tape. If I find any other cool ones I'll post them.

Hi everyone. New to the board and I know this is an old thread, but I was doing some searching and ran across it and couldn't resist replying. For sure not vaporware, as I have one. No idea if it still works as it has been sitting on a shelf for 20+ years in my basement.

Great to see it exist. If I had it I would certainly take it apart to see the internals.
I was just curious about it that's why I asked in the first place. Would be great for you if it worked! No more annoying weatherman and advertisement. ;)

Wow! Now this is good news! Thanks so much for your reply here. It's maybe the very first weather station to be seen in the wild. Pazman, it would be great if you could take pictures of it (incl. internals if possible), and dump to digital format its software and instructions (if you have them). Then, of course, try it and tell us how the weather will be in your neighborhood for the next few days :).
Oh and if you are possibly inclined to sell it

It will soon be on its way to the 8-bit Guy (David Murray). Hopefully he will do a video of it at some point in the future.
