Forum moved to new host

Post by joshuadenmark »

Hi all

I have moved the forum to the new host.
Internal links will not function until domain name is pointing to the new host.
Kind regards, Peter.

Here's a draft of a refurbished VIC-20 logo for Denial, with the perspective being correctly applied this time:

I can replace the cyan background with any other background colour, and would also add in the Denial caption.

It's good to know you're aware of this.

After 2010, Jeff had to prune the search database for space reasons. It would be good, if it could be rebuilt from the current text base. Will the Wiki also be re-installed?

Cheers,

Michael

P.S. One bug-report: the old forum already used UTF-8, it seems however the text data was imported as being 8-bit ASCII. Older postings and private message with umlauts, for example, now display these as 'ö' instead of '

Does not seem to be quite the case, though. For an example, a search for 'minipaint' only turns up postings until May 11, 2010, even though I know there should be a lot more after this point. Likewise, a search for 'doom' doesn't find Kweepa's VIC Doom, instead the newest postings date from Apr 28, 2010 (and of course don't refer in any way to VIC Doom).

I suppose the search database has to be re-built entirely, so that also postings after the database pruning appear as results.

I welcome changes. The Denial logo was a nod to the original fanzine. joshuadenmark has been working very hard on the move. I hope we can all show appreciation. It's a lot of work, so I'm staying out of his way for some of the more intricate procedures. When he is ready, I plan to return the commodore logos for new posts, etc. We should be able to discuss any of the available upgrades like fast reply, mobile access, and more. This is all very exciting for me.

Is the antispam system working, Jeff? I recall that was an important point which lead to the upgrade.
Joshuadenmark did a fantastic job, this forum is fast and has many new useful features, so thanks again!

When i do a search on Minipaint, it shows this post as the last (page 5):

The antispam on this forum works (knock on woods) I have made a simple Q&A as spam protection and no spammers until now (7-9-13 and salt over left shoulder). No hazzle for administrator, user can activate by link send to mail.

But we still got lots of registration mail from the old forum (it is deleted, not on mother earth anymore) only god know why...
Kind regards, Peter.
