Way beyond my modest ambitions, but nice to see a detailed guide of the VIC's inner workings .

I've just bought a VIC that powers up okay but only shows a black screen. I can rule out the A/V lead because it works well enough with my other VIC-20s. Is this problem likely to be related to the VIC chip? I'd like to repair this VIC because it's in immaculate condition (apart from this one defect...

Wouldn't it be great if someone paid $1,500+ for this and then saw a copy for 50p in a charity shop the very next day?

It seems logical to assume that anyone prepared to pay this much for a copy of a half-arsed BASIC game that no one wanted would be interested enough in the VIC to join a forum. Either that or it's some rich billionare taking a stroll down memory lane.

"Please check my other auction and save on shipping". That should come as a real comfort to someone who will probably pay in excess of $1,500 after e-bay inflation.

I'm led to understand that there were a lot of clones made of Blitz (owing mostly to its simple structure). The City Crusher game on the Mega Cart demo looks like one.

Do we know what language it was programmed in? If it's in BASIC that would really be taking the p**s.

I've only owned a VIC for a few months, but I've really cleaned up on the tape games. Most of them are available on e-bay for about £3 quid a throw.

Does anyone here actually regard this as a worthwhile purchase? Or is it just amusement value?

I was just thinking about the VIC I was desperately trying to get to work as a ten year old (the one my parents owned). As I recall, the machine powered up fine but the screen was all jumpy. Is this a repairable fault?
