These graphics wouldn't disgrace the C64 (or the Atari ST, for that matter).

Sure, sounds like a lot of fun, although I don't have any programs to offer yet.

I managed to find two in the space of a few weeks. The first was bought on its own for about a tenner and the second came with another VIC-20.

Fear not. If the likes of me can find a two-pin PSU, there's hope for everyone :) .

I recently registered on Amiga.org. They filter out spammers by asking random questions about the Amiga; the questions assume either prior experience or a bit of reading on Wikipedia. I don't know how effective this method is, but it seems more thorough than a self-explanatory password. On the whole...

Funnily enough, the VIC I get the best picture from was bought as untested for £8. I had to spend an extra £10 on a two-pin power supply but it all worked out in the end.

I agree that graphics and animation aren't the priority with a football management sim, but it's nice if it can be done without affecting the overall gameplay. In retrospect, this is probably a big ask of the VIC given its memory limitations. As Carlsson has already pointed out, this RAM space would...

I have a few VICs in need of this treatment. Do you know where I can find detailed guidance on the process?

Why Ultima? Why not Romik? They made some great stuff (including the most under-appreciated game ever - Shark Attack).

The Red-Alert at the beginning of each level and the over-elaborate music on level completion can get a bit tedious. This is a lot of interruption for a fast-paced arcade game.

Absolutely. Without the industry and dilligence of these people, the likes of me probably wouldn't have got anywhere near a VIC-20. All joking aside, I have every respect for people involved in these projects.

Sorry to dump on the C64 (and Lemon 64, for that matter). Both have positive aspects that I like a great deal. The C64 just hasn't captured my imagination yet  .

With the Mega Cart revolution, people are starting to show what the VIC can really do. The VIC community is a lot more active than the communities of other more illustrious machines. The Lemon 64 community focuses on old games, high scores and collector's items because that's all it's got left. The ...

Three and a half hours to go and Escape from Mount Trash has yet to reach the $1,000 milestone. My initial prediction of $1,500+ may be a little off the mark, but a lot can happen in the closing twenty seconds of an e-bay auction. My guess is that the bidder who really wants this will hike the maxim...

I did voluntary work in a charity shop that specialised in books and records. This shop had professional staff that were well informed about the collector market, but there are other less professional shops that are mostly run by old grannies who still associate Windows with loud breaking noises. In...

Gloating pleasures? That's a laugh. Most of the people I know think my VIC-20 collection is a load of old junk  .

The funny thing is that if this item actually appeared in a charity shop/thrift store, the proprietors would probably have no idea of its true market value. I know I didn't.
