Re: Upcoming H.E.R.O. game

I played the C64 version first but I have come to like the clean Atari 2600 version. I think the background looks a bit messy on the C64, but the removable walls look great. Did you finish it? This game is surprisingly hard. I doubt I will succeed even after a lot of testing. The C64 backgrounds co...

Re: Upcoming H.E.R.O. game

Fair enough comments, however I have the C64 version burned into my brain and played it for more hours than I care to admit - nothing else can compare! :-)

Re: Upcoming H.E.R.O. game

That's a real shame... Are you sure you couldn't squeeze some extra space for better backgrounds? I'm sure when I tinkered, (many, many moons ago!) with the C64 version - it wasn't much more than 32K in size? The atmospheric backgrounds were one of the things that really 'made' the game... Tried and...

Re: Upcoming H.E.R.O. game

My favourite game on the C64... and one of the few I actually completed.

It would be good if the backgrounds had a bit more detail, rather than just plain colour - unless this is just a prototype?

Cheers,

Mike.

Re: VICE 3.6 has been released

I've tried both the SDL and GTK versions and have major gripes with both! :-) The SDL UI is crap - I know, back in the day, the 'CCS64-like' interface was a novelty, but with the massive menu-structure on current version of VICE, this just doesn't work. The GTK UI is non-native to Windows (doesn't f...

Re: VICE 3.6 has been released

Okay, but I had a bit of a silly question about later versions of VICE, specifically WinVICE... Up until v3.2, it used to work well and the UI was Windows 'system-compliant' I guess you'd call it - using a 'standard' Windows interface for all menus, gadgets, drop-downs, etc. However after that the e...

You might also want to check the continuity on the tracks under the expansion connector.

I had issues on several Roland synths with the keybed PCB having intermittent crack and splits in the very thin tracks.

Try flexing the PCB slightly while testing the continuity...

If anyone is looking for inspiration for an entry then how about the Vaporware and missing games in this list? https://www.commodore.ca/manuals/funet/cbm/vic20/Cartlist.html Wizard or Wor, Stargate, Flash Gordon.... or the Denial list here: http://sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic....

Re: Dungeon of Dance

Very nice game, but could I suggest one minor change?

Different background/wall colours? Yellow, is nice, but how about green, turquoise, etc?

Cheers,

Mike.

Re: WIP VIC32 - 32-column 'pet loader' style program

Would a 20-line screen affect readability? Isn't it just 'extending' the vertical screen-height by 4 more rows? (and obviously using-up more RAM) I remember, back in the day, POKEing around in BASIC to get the VIC screen as big as possible. It was a bit like good-old Amiga overscan and I often wonde...

Re: WIP VIC32 - 32-column 'pet loader' style program

Fantastic! Looks great... It is almost like a VZ-200 (my 1st computer too!), but with LOWER-CASE as well and better colour-modes and better sound, etc. etc!

What would be the maximum theoretical (text) screen size you could manage on a Vic?

Cheers,

Mike.
