Re: RetroTink and the VIC-20

I've mentioned this before but I think the acid test for a modern display is how it fares in game with something like Galaga - black background with red or blue colours. Are you seeing the blue/red clearly or are you struggling? A lot of people see the boot-up screen and think "Oh, wonderful!&q...

Re: WTB: VIC-20 case and/or keyboard

It seems a shame that there aren't any after-market cases available for the VIC like there are for the C64 and the Amiga. It's a simple thing that could help more people put a system together.

Re: Off topics section

Where will all the non relevant posts go otherwise, better they do not clog up the rest of the forum. I don't think that's the best justification to keep OT. The idea is that non-relevant posts won't go anywhere because there won't be a place for them and the people who want to write them will eith...

Re: The Amiga Thread

I think in 1993, Amiga's OS was superior to anything else out there. Mac OS7? Gorgeous but a bit closed. Windows 3.1? Please. Linux? Not yet. It takes quite a bit of getting used to but it seems like there is a tool for everything on the Amiga once you know what to look for. I can see why many Amig...

The Amiga Thread

I've spent a good chunk of this summer on a personal mission to get more out of the Amiga. It's been a very frustrating system for me and I regard it as the most user-hostile system ever. I started by running Amibian on a Raspberry Pi 3B+. Amibian is a Linux distribution that focuses solely on runni...

Re: Off topics section

One thing to remember is that the recent controversy started in the Buy/Sell/Trade section over the non-purchase of a VIC-20 cartridge. Quarrelsome people will create quarrels no matter what the subject is. A forum section is only as good or as bad as the people who use it. A lot of forums have a cl...

TheVIC-20 Welcome Pack

Following discussion in the TheVIC-20 thread about the possibility of putting together a collection of software for new users, I thought I'd start a thread to get the ball rolling. It occurs to me that for many users the primary thing that defines the VIC-20 is the programming experience so it would...

Re: Denial Return to Print

For myself, I found out about the newsletter by doing an internet search on Yahoo! for VIC-20 related things on a VT-100 text-based terminal at the library. I then found a webpage that was announcing it, and I sent an email to Jeff with my home address. And then Jeff sent me a copy of the newslette...

I'm curious about the distribution of the Denial newsletter. How did people hear about it and order a copy?

Re: Megacart is back

OK, since you know more about this than the rest of us, kindly be *constructive* and post or message a suggestion to me about what you think I should do. I think that was clarified in the "It is what it is" statement. In my book, a username on a public forum where the person is registered...

Re: Megacart is back

Dagnabbit, I'm definitely on the waiting list to buy a Mega Cart but my email changed after my divorce a few years ago. Anyone have any suggestions? Brian's username on this forum is 6502Dude. If you send a PM with your updated details, the forum will send him an e-mail notifying him that he has a ...

Re: Exactly how NOT to make a multicart for the C64

Please keep the debate friendly and constructive, do you even know how tiresome this is to follow ? No, because I haven't been following. I just switch off from topics that don't interest me and this one has been going around for years; gold plated connectors = good, non-gold plated connectors = ba...

Re: The Vic-20 launching Oct 2020

It's a slight disappointment, but to be expected with this kind of thing. I believe you can customise the carousel now, so not really an issue . I disagree. I like to think of these commercial emulation packages as a collector's piece and a tribute to the system it emulates; that means a fixed set ...

Re: The Vic-20 launching Oct 2020

I feel disappointed that they did this without consulting the Denial community. We could have brought so much more to the table; a better selection of games, a wealth of homebrews, documentation about the history of the system and we would have happily shared that information out of love for the sys...

Guilty as charged. Thought it meant every two years  .
