I mean: do the fully assembled FE3 have the SD card reader by default? Because, as I wrote, in their site it's stated that the FE3 comes with an optional incorporated SD card reader (to read d64 images from an SD, like the MMC64 does): optional an Atmega644 and a SD card as a mass storage device (to...

 Thanks - I should have searched better. Comes in kit form though, and no SD card reader for that price, or I'm wrong? I'll wait for the October opening! :D

I'm looking for something more simple and less expensive, i.e. a method which would allow me to load programs from d64 images into a real VIC, and nothing more. Both SD2IEC and FE3 have drawbacks for me: - SD2IEC with its daughter board and the PSU take less space than a small notebook + XE1541 cabl...

I'm with Formater. The double body Pluto/Charon is one of the most interesting objects in our system. To support this view, I propose to call the program PLUTO (no more your-anus  ).

Yes you need a 5V supply. Either from cassette port or from a adapter. This complicate things. :? All in all, I think I will revert to my original idea: Notebook + USB cable (or LPT, I already have a XE1541 cable, but my netbook has no LPT port), and an appropriate software such as 64HDD . Time to ...

Great! Basing on this discussion, and being a little less ignorant about this matter, I guess all I need is: - The SD2IEC - Its daughter board The daughter board can be assembled by the seller upon request, as I read in the SD2IEC thread: The SD2IEC has a nice daughter board even if you need to buil...

Why not a FE3? It has a full SD2IEC + 512KB Sram + 512KB flash memory. Sounds like it's too much for me - I only want to play Infocom text adventures, VICtoria and some other stuff on a real VIC :D . SD2IEC also can mount 1 d64 image. It isn't possible to appear as 2 floppy devices (9 and 8). Eithe...

Yes. I already use MMC64 with my C64, and a similar solution would be OK also for the VIC. Unfortunately, I have to wait for Jim Brain to produce a new batch of SD2IEC, which is temporary out of stock. Furthermore, MMC64 won't allow multiple load from a d64 image- can you tell me if SD2IEC has...

So, no way to actually load programs from the PC (i.e., use the PC connected via USB as a virtual disk drive)?

Mmmm... That would interest me. Do you think it will work with a "modern" netbook? If so, which program(s) should I use to load .prg and/or .d64 files into the VIC memory?

Sorry for this naive questions

Excellent- even if it's unusual to begin with the soundtrack  .
Uranus is also a great name for the program itself:

I could collect positional data from tables in the internet, and provide physical data about stars and extra-galactic objects, along with their Messier catalog number. Let's give us some day to think about the program structure, and let people join the project, then we will be able to open another t...
