Graph plotting
From Czes Kosniowski's "Fun Mathematics on your Microcomputer", I typed a little program in VICE XVic emulator, unexpanded Vic-20. The program runs fine and it starts plotting the chosen predefined function in hi-res screen. But then it stops while still in hi-res mode so I can't read the ...

Re: Memory conflict
Of course, that is quite normal. I always did the same thing with ML code for the 64. For some reasons I didn't consider the same situation for the Vic-20, where the RAM layout is a bit more complicated (and yes, I just downloaded the memory map you published in another topic here). All sorted out. ...

Re: Memory conflict
Adding a SYS call works but strangely not if the code starts at $033c. * = $1001 ; 10 SYS4128 byte $0B,$10,$0A,$00,$9E,$34,$31,$32,$38,$00,$00,$00 * = $1020 ; start 4128 ; * = $033c ; 828 tape buffer ; byte $0B,$10,$0A,$00,$9E,$38,$32,$38,$00,$00,$00 Changing the start to (for example) 4120 (as BASI...

Re: Memory conflict
Thanks, Mike. A simple NEW statement after loading the routine worked seamlessly. https://cloud.nablasolutions.ch/owncloud/index.php/s/BkuCotA6D6i70aV EDIT: Also as an exercise, I thought about implementing the counting of time elapsed by the routine directly in the machine code. It shouldn't be tha...

Memory conflict
During my Vic-20 assembly experiments (unexpanded machine), I have put together a small program to dump the memory and provide a graphical representation of the bits of the different memory locations. This is a program that I initially wrote in BASIC, then for practice and learning purposes I rewrot...

Re: Symbolic keyboard map for XVIC - Italian
A very nice job, LoadError. I too enjoyed the symbolic Italian keymap layout. Thanks for sharing it. Did you also complete the layout for the X64? That would also be useful when typing/working with C64 BASIC/Assembly listings. Thanks. EDIT: After looking out in my current version of VICE (3.2) I've ...

Re: Making a random number in Assembly
Boy, this is really faaast! :-) And I didn't even set the Warp mode. The lines were drawn at a speed that I actually didn't expect to see in a Vic-20 graphic screen. Thank you for the instructions, Mike. You make me also find out about the VirtualFS mode of VICE. So far I've always dealt with D64, P...

Re: Making a random number in Assembly
Very useful thread. I'm currently learning to write some code on the Vic-20 and I find the threads in this section so formative and time-saving. I could use the previous example of the graphic demo released in a D64 file. I've downloaded madness.zip but haven't found a way so far to run in XVIC (Vic...

Re: CRT chess game crashing
Thanks for the easter egg. Didn't know about it. I agree with you that reverse-engineering the machine code would be too much trouble and would take a lot of time to find the algorithm used in the gameplay. I often wonder, since these games are now pretty old and, some may say, obsolete, if there's ...

I only meant that Italian users will be able to take advantage of lower shipping costs. I guess that the guy will sell to anyone.

Potrebbe essere interessante per gli amanti del Vic-20 il post che ho appena messo nella sezione Buy, Sell and Trade.
