Hey Ian! Hmm, it might have been Trader. I know it wasn't Zor as I still remember that one really clearly. Come to think about it I think we might have actually played the game I'm thinking of when you visited a while back... Now, I'm not so sure it is Trader... Old age, eh? Muscat?! You seem to hav...

Games With PETSCII Graphics?
I have a real soft spot for PETSCII graphics. Last night I was playing Starbase (Commodore). It's really quite pretty and sets a great atmosphere even if the game is a bit simple. What do you guys make of PETSCII? Do you like them? What games do you recommend? I remember one game from about 20 years...

How Do you Go About Converting a TAP to PRG?
TAP files are great for the sake of preservation but they're a pain in the neck when it comes to modern storage devices as used on a real VIC. The most common and affordable modern storage solutions (SD2IEC and uIEC)can't even do anything with them... I would love to start converting some TAP only g...

^ Yeah, that's true. The TED chip is a little flaky. It can get damaged easily and becomes unstable. And the joystick ports (and Datasette port) are silly. That's a hangover from the C116 small case situation. Basically, the intended casing for the TED series was going to be much smaller (like the S...

I bought an Atari Flashback 3 from Salvation Army here for $20. It was in the box almost new. Not a bad deal because the 2 joystick controllers could be used with my VIC-20, Atari computers, and the C-64 and 128 machines (oh, and my real Atari 2600). :D Are the controllers any good? I've been tempt...

^ Sorry for going OT but are you the same Dusty that made Coppa Reloaded? I mailed you a while back and forgot to respond to you. Sorry for ignoring you if you're the same guy. Anyway, that's a strong opinion of the C16 you've got there! Did you have one, at all? Or did you just 'upgrade' to the C64...

I have an idea for a game...
I know all you coders hate topics like this but I've had this idea for a long time but I wouldn't even know where to begin coding it myself. Basically, it's Missile Command but instead of joystick or track ball controls it woudl be controlled by paddles for the X and Y movement kinda like Etch a Ske...

I know it's not the best solution but have you thought about using smaller graphics a la Blue Star and use flip screens? I remember a while back someone released a 'condensed' version of SMB which pretty much did that and it looked pretty good. You could get pretty much a whole level on one screen. ...

Well, you won't have to pay upfront for the Megacart so I still say join the queue. You'll have plenty of time to save up. :) BTW, which SD2IEC to you end up going for? I bought one of those ones in the blue case and the reset buttons. It came really quickly, it's well built and it even came with t...

I got an SD2IEC off ebay, It was all built but was just circuit board, no case. I mounted it on a piece of strip wood and put it in an altoids tin. It came very quickly and once I got the hang of it, it's great. The best bit is that I can also use it on the C64, and thanks to a program I found, it ...

TBH, I've no idea what they go for in the US. I know that as unpopular as they were over here it was even less successful in the States. I don't know how that affects their value though... :) You should download a couple of game images and try them out in Vice or YAPE. At least it would give you an ...

Didn't the C16 disk drive use the user Port? I know it plugs in somewhere strange anyway. I like the C16. If Jack had stayed it would've been a much more focused and pocket-friendly system. I think of it as the Vic's true successor as that's how it was conceived. An accessible, entry-level machine t...
