VIC-1001 is the Japanese VIC-20 version, much sought by some people. Possibly the illustrations in the C2N manual were drawn for the Japanese market? The VIC-20 was released in Japan (as the VIC-1001) before it came out in the US and Europe. It's possible that the manual was written before there we...

IIRC, NTSC and PAL systems modulates (or whatever the correct term is) sound with different frequencies, so your PAL TV isn't able to demodulate the sound. It's easy enough to build a cable with composite video on one RCA plug and sound on another. You'll get a much sharper picture that way too. VIC...

But Rick Melick's interviews I had not read before. http://zimmers.net/cbmpics/cbm/vic/BillSeiler.html They come from Melick's VIC-20 tribute page , one of the oldest VIC-20 pages on the net. Amazingly it's still around, although it hasn't been updated since 1996 :o That part about the competing te...

Re: i hate commodore oe vic20 joystike

caused none of my friend think a commodore is cool :( None of my friends think Commodores are cool either but I don't give a damn. I am and always have been the nerd/geek of the bunch anyway and they've accepted that for many years. To get back on topic, I don't like gamepads either. Could be becau...

So you don't even have to have Linux installed? Just boot from the CD and that's it? Yep. It arrived yesterday and I got it working right away. There are a few tutorials to get you started, but this kind of software is complicated, so it certainly helps if you've used a sequencer, a patch bay and a...

Multitrack hard disk recording

In another thread Jeff-20 asked about a software equivalent to a digital 8-track. I thought this may be of interest to more people. I have ordered the Studio to Go CD from Fervent Software . This is a Linux-based bootable CD which contains a fully set-up digital recording studio, with multitrack har...

My SoundBlaster Live sound card came with a cut-down version of Steinberg Cubase with which is a nice program. I also use Emagic Logic Lite which I bought a few years ago. Both of them are perfectly adequate for multi track recording and editing. They should be able to handle at least 8 tracks even ...

My main reason for upgrading has always been to keep up with the newest games. In part also to be able to do multi track audio recording/MIDI sequencing, although I haven't done much of that in the last few years. If it wasn't for the games, I would run Linux all the time (which I already do 95% of ...

I checked the "1" option, since I don't have a physical cartridge expander. But I do have Nicolas Welte's Universal RAM/ROM expander, which can hold four different expansion ROM sets in the area $A000-$BFFF (as well as four different KERNAL/BASICs and 32K RAM, all internally). Since some c...

I might add that I had a few Omega Race sessions yesterday. I told Boray that I totally suck att Omega Race. I still stand by that statement but at least I managed to score more than 40000 points before all my ships got blown to pieces in quick succession. There's still some hope that I may one day ...
