Re: WTB working Vic 20 computer
It might help if you tell us which country you're in as it will save you money on shipping if you don't have to import.

Re: A couple of thoughts on the SX-64
it's now more of a collector's item than anything practical. This collector agrees. That's true of any piece of retro hardware. If we were only concerned with practicality, we'd all stick with our laptops, tablets and mobile phones (the last two of which I don't even own). My main computer desk is ...

Re: This is a temporary domain.
RIP Syd. I had to look him up to remember who he was but I remember that he a ran a vintage computer museum and did a project where he used a VIC-20 to post a tweet on Twitter. Seemed quite a happy, go lucky sort of guy and I don't think he deserved the negativity some of his posts got.

A couple of thoughts on the SX-64
The recent Metal Jesus video on YT got me thinking about this system again. It's a system I once had the opportunity to own for free but I declined because I found it too impractical and cumbersome to use. I don't regret that choice but I have thought of a couple of things that Commodore could have ...

Re: Denial on Tour
Sadly most of the retro stores in London have either died out or gone online only. Plenty of independent record stores if you're into vinyl, though. High street retro hardware and games ended when CEX cornered the market and started asking £50 for consoles that would have gone for £20 a few years a...

Re: "The ChickenHead Chronicles" - my new 8 bit Commodore YouTube series
Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed the first video. That's the first VIC-20 review I've come across with detailed observation of game mechanics. Very informative. Will watch more when I have more time.

Re: TheC64 to include a VIC-20 mode
It's always good to hear about the VIC getting more public attention. My friend will be particularly excited about this because one of his pet peeves about the C64 is that it isn't backwards compatible with the VIC-20. He wanted a working keyboard and he's going to be delighted with the news that a ...

Is there any reason why they wouldn't be able to add an SD card reader for file storage?

There is an international forum here for bilingual members where you can communicate in your native Italian. We have some Italian members here who write fluent English and I'm sure they could pass on anything you want passed on if you want to avoid any potential misunderstandings.

Re: Are there graphic tools like charpad for the VIC 20?
I think Robert Hurst did a program along those lines a few years back (it's the SSS file I believe): https://robert.hurst-ri.us/downloads/ If memory serves, it's quite an advanced program that's intended for people who have experience with assembly language but it comes with some very detailed docum...

Re: Reasons to get a Vic-20
No, you don't. The cartridge contains all the memory it needs which is just as well as the cartridge slot and the expansion slot are one and the same .Mozartkügel wrote:Wait a minute! Do I need 32K memory on my to be real VIC-20 to play C&O?

Re: Reasons to get a Vic-20
Don't forget the games. I regard the VIC as one of the best systems for old school arcade games (both direct ports and derivatives). Here are a few of my faves: VIC Rally X (arcade perfect port of Namco's Rally X; also available as Radar Rat Race if you don't mind driving a mouse instead of a car) K...
