Re: Need advice on Oscilloscope probes

I protest! You don't need a DSO to get autoset! Tektronix had this in 1965:

OK, so they called it "seek", but whatever.

You do? Which one? How many different models existed?

Re: Strange problem with my TV Monitor

That would need a tube with a grid in the first place. It's more likely a store brand TV has a standard shadow mask. The mask is part of the front face of the tube, it can't move, and if it did, it would affect the whole screen the same way. It's likely the color purity magnets on the neck of the CR...

Re: Need advice on Oscilloscope probes

..and if I may add to my little wool-gathering post above, when I was in college, my version of a digital storage scope was a Tektronix 531 with a Digi-View system pointed at the CRT. Re: Need advice on Oscilloscope probes

Tek and HP came up with various CRT technologies over the years, the storage CRT and the MCP CRT are the most impressive to me. But they are both fragile and short-lived. (We can argue over who invented the storage tube, it was Hughes AFAIK, but Tek and HP perfected it. Maybe HP a bit more than Tek....

Re: Need advice on Oscilloscope probes

I think the important thing to note here is that it's a *storage* scope. Storage CRTs have limited life compared to non-storage tubes and are much easier to damage; you can burn in a waveform that won't erase. Use it in the non-store mode for now unless you are confident you get it. RTFM and believe...

Re: How do you use a multi-slot expander (motherboard)?

I plugged 5 VICs to one RAM cartridge once.

It didn't work.

Anyone ever put a VIC-20 into a 64C case?
