Re: Raspberry Pi 400 - Computer in a keyboard!

^ Wow, thanks for that. You're welcome, hope you find it playable -- don't forgot to <U>pgrade your firmware, it made a difference to me. Yeah, this stuff can inspire differing creativity. Some like the immersive arcade action/attract like Legends, some prefer quick launch in & out, others pref...

Mancave

My mancave was recently renovated -- still only a partial picture, haha, there's an adjacent closet filled with new old monitors and tons of floppy + CD media. I am looking to dump more of my retro gear. I recently put out on the curb a working C64, 1541 drive, 40/80 column monochrome monitor with s...

Re: Using MAME to emulate the VIC

Refer to Debugging using MAME/MESS 12 years ago. I just checked and the document links mostly work. :P Hi Robert, nice to here you back on here..hope you're doing well. I am doing OK, bud, thanks for asking! I've done mostly QA work with another Code extension for enterprise DB scripting, but always...

Re: Raspberry Pi 400 - Computer in a keyboard!

I moved off Lakka, et al, and spun my own gaming console, that works great as a dedicated console straight up off the Linux virtual console, but also works just as well with the option to switch between console and desktop. It runs the latest git pull from RetroArch and I integrated CoinOps Legends ...

Re: Using MAME to emulate the VIC

Nice, I'll have to take a look into these VS Code extensions -- IMO, getting a comprehensive setup to work for the Commodore 8-bits is a worthy pursuit.

Re: Raspberry Pi 400 - Computer in a keyboard!

Yup, I just added NES, SNES, and PS1 without difficulty. It's a pleasant surprise to see these run so smoothly all the while keeping Lakka fixed using the Vulkan driver.

Re: Games we want to see

I haven't been here in a while, so I figured I'd bump this thread and remind the creative folks that Wizard of Wor is still missing on VIC.

P.S., happy to be wrong.

Re: Raspberry Pi 400 - Computer in a keyboard!

Got a second one yesterday (makes for a nice $100 Christmas gift) after installing the latest Lakka (Pi 4 aarch64) and loading 1000s of titles up from my personal digital retro archive. 8) For a DIY project, I am very pleased with its cores running like butter, even with a simple CRT-pi shader to re...

Re: Lost software releases

If it helps any, I posted everything I could harvest during my visiting heyday here (2008-2014) into floppy images: --> https://drive.google.com/open?id=1nDyJa4WDoaUgyTYe6QuENyT3QZaN1sD_ A folder with GameBase20 (GB20) can also be downloaded. My sources are GitHub archived repositories here: https:/...

Re: Sprite Invaders

Re-visited the game using the latest mame64 , which BTW has a vastly improved UI that actually works well for modifying VIC machine settings, loading files, attaching carts, etc. Anyway I found a worthy bug... with no extra bases remaining, launch a missile to destroy the mother ship while the invad...

Re: Software sprites?

Yup, a single character is used for a 1-pixel high missile sprite, and it still has the net effect of the full pixel coordinate system with any other larger sprite. If that pixel is only moving left-right, you can make it wider, say 2-pixels wide and move it 2-pixels at a time, or 4-pixels wide and ...

Re: Hack & Slash

FWIIW, almost a year later, I have the site hosted on Google: https://ddgame.us with the game door playing as: http://play.ddgame.us but still pointing to my home DMZ server. Its development progress has been a satisfying journey to date. It's more playable using an ordinary tablet too.

Onward!
