Re: Paddle Games
Yeah there really isn't much to the paddles once you open them up, I have about 4 sets of 2600 ones and once I opened them all up, carefully cleaned all the black stuff off the contacts and reassembled them they all worked perfectly. There's not alot else that can go wrong, there's no chips or anyth...

Re: Anyone know anything about TRS-80 / Colour Genie?
I have chatted via email with the guy who programmed this, a few months ago, unfortunatly life has got in the way of getting this transferred to an emulator compatible file, so haven't been ableto go any further. He has a bunch more tapes of his old games as well.

Re: This is a temporary domain.
I was getting worried.
Does seem like they probably don't want sites that don't use that much resources, they want ones that will pay for the dedicated servers.

Re: VIC 20 n00b - getting started
1: I guess get the tap files and use a tap to wav convert then record them to a tape. Though personally I think the SD2IEC is but preferable, especially since much of the software is in disk format. 2: Normal joysticks are fine, don't use a megadrive one or your computer will explode. 3: Buy a C64 C...

Games using polygons
Would the Vic-20 be able to do games featuring polygons like Castle Master, Total Eclipse & Driller?
Would the 1.108Mhz 8502 processor be faster to do this than the 0.985 MHz 8510
Are there any examples of games like this?

Re: Graphics Accelerator Chip for VIC-20
I agree if you want a vic with graphic and sound enhancements you may as well just use a c64. The appeal for me is the Vic as a relic from a certain point in time and seeing the things that could have been possible if people knew then what they know now. I'm not even sure why I'm more obsessed with ...

Re: New Release: KWEEPOUT
Thanks for the explanation, not sure I fully understand it but get the idea. Vic-20 is very odd with it's memory though isn't it? I don't know if the ZX81 had similar issues with it's expansions. When I said it was rare I meant the amount of games I've found that are made for it from 1986 onwards. I...

Re: New Release: KWEEPOUT
Been playing with this, really neat little breekout clone. Was a bit confused when I came here as I'd been playing the final release and here it said unexpanded, then downloaded the unexpanded first version. what a difference assembly makes. Just wondering though what is the difference between using...
Re: Spikes
Been having fun playing this game really makes the VIC look and sound good.
Only thing that holds it back is that music distortion. So if that could be fixed this would be near perfect. Also if the tune could be bit longer, not that many people will hear it going by comments my best is 21.

Re: SD2IEC-Ready Games Collection (1986 onwards)
Maybe you can add the source as well for the type-ins, so one can look up the corresponding magazine. Reason I didn't include this is that it doesn't help those who just want to use the pack and list to play the games which I guess is most. Plus it seems like some games were printed in multiple mag...

Re: SD2IEC-Ready Games Collection (1986 onwards)
Thanks for doing this! I haven't looked yet, but is there a way to separate PAL/NTSC games? Sorry I didn't even think about that. I'm in a PAL region so don't have a problem with pretty much any game. There are a couple that come with pal and NTSC versions both contained in the game's folder but it...

Re: 3D printed joystick
One thing I didn't like about the competition pro was the really stiff stick, Zip Stick is superior. The buttons on the comp pro were also awful. I find using one of these nowadays my hands get tired quite quickly especially with something like Centipede, better with a joystick you don't have to hol...

Re: SD2IEC-Ready Games Collection (1986 onwards)
Oooh! Very nice! I see missing are some never-completed, yet playable games by Victragice like "Blazer" and "Galaxy Renegade", which are so great they need to be on the list. Added them, when I do an update they'll be included Glad people like it. Would preople prefer being list...
