Re: BackBit cartridge for the C64, C128, and VIC-20
Sexy cartridge :). Vic compatible via adapter is very eighties.. price tag is quite high though . How can you say that? It's practically an instant-loading, one-stop-shop for anything you would want to do with a C64, C128, VIC-20 (and potentially a Plus 4). It supercedes the SD2IEC and EasyFlash by...

Re: VIC20 Franken-machine?
Personally, I don't think it matters that much. The VIC I use most of the time is one I swapped out with a non-working VIC because the non-working one had a more cosmetically appealing case. I'll take functionality and looks over historical pedigree any day of the week.

You probably shouldn't be posting "Hello World" type programs here. It's a bit like posting a video of you playing Three Blind Mice on a recorder in a forum full of grade 8 musicians. These are basic training programs that you should be doing in your own time. Post for advice if you need h...

Re: For new users - make a post or say hello
Hello everyone! I've created an account on this forum because I've gotten my hands on a VIC-20 for very specific reasons: I'm not a computer enthusiast but a historical reenactor, and with my group, we're working on a little "show and tell adventure" to give people at historical events a ...

Re: Any thoughts on this video mod?
What makes VIC's composite different? It's not just the VIC; it's composite and video games in general and how they interact with a flatscreen. On the surface, it's fine; you see the boot-up screen and you think "Oh, wonderful!" but then when you want to go and play and something like Gal...

Re: VIC-1903 Rally-X Cartridge for Sale
This is a game I would love to own as an original (it's a game I've played a lot on the Mega-Cart) but it's way beyond my means.
Good luck with the auction.

Re: List of sales numbers for Home Computers
This isn't an answer to your question but I think some of the information in the article you linked to might be questionable. I was surprised to read that the Atari Lynx sold less than a million units and that it was outsold 3:1 by the Wonderswan and the N-Gage. This is contradicted by the Wikipedia...

Re: Large Collection - Considering getting rid of it
I would just like to draw your attention to the fact that many people have got rid of large computer collections and regretted it. They think they're letting it go to start a new chapter in life or whatever and a couple of years later they're trying to find another system on eBay in a grossly over-i...

Re: Simplest s-video mod ever for Vic-20CR
Have you done much colour testing for games on your flatscreen? In particular, how do darker coloured sprites look with a black background? Are they clearly visable or are you struggling to see them?

Re: Any thoughts on this video mod?
but it has some kind of buffer chip..? He claims it's better than the s-video mod. I must confess to not noticing the description first time around but my understanding is that it's still going through S-Video so it's still an S-Video mod. If it were a mod for RGB-SCART I would be a lot more intere...

Re: Any thoughts on this video mod?
It looks like an oven-ready version of the S-Video mod for the VIC that's been going around (in various implementations) for several years. Personally, I don't see the point if you have a composite cable and a CRT television; it might produce better results if you're hooking up to a flatscreen (comp...

Re: Happy 40, Vic!
I thought the VIC-1001 appeared in Japan in 1980 and the VIC-20 showed up in North America in 1981 ? Did I get this wrong ? No, but the VIC-1001 is just what they called the VIC-20 in Japan. In principle, it's no different from the VC-20 in Germany (name change to avoid obscenity in the German lang...

It's beaten me to that milestone. I turn 39 in August so I've still got the best part of a couple of years to go. To think I was only 27 when I joined this forum.
