Re: Any thoughts on this video mod?

Just as a test, while I'm waiting for the new "left handed" board to arrive, I mounted my wrong-handed board on a stack of DIP sockets. I can't close the case when it's like this, but it shows the output quality you can expect. I've only tried composite output before and this is obviously ...

Re: Any thoughts on this video mod?

Update: Great developer support here! He's been caught out by the popularity of this board and is going to redesign it over the next few weeks so it fits in all VICs, and has offered me a refund or one of the new boards when they are ready. I'm in no rush so I've opted to wait for a new board. In th...

Re: Any thoughts on this video mod?

Thanks, that's sort of what I thought but wasn't sure. Update: The developer replied. The instructions were to repurpose the video connector on a C64. He suggested connecting an s-video cable directly to the ClearVideo board and leaving the VIC20 unmodified as a solution. I made up cables but, as yo...

Re: Any thoughts on this video mod?

I have one of these now (in the UK) - the instructions say to "...find the Luma & Chroma from the Video Port..." but none of the pinouts I can find have these names. I'm assuming it means pin 2/3 on the VIC chip but I've asked for clarification before I start hacking up my VIC20. It ta...

Re: Does Pi1541 run with a VIC-20? (split/OT from: SD2IEC and Penultimate [...])

FWIW, the 1.23 firmware release notes state compatiblity has been improved and now works on many more combinations of hardware including VIC20. With the help of a lot of testers I was able to update the timings to a state where compatability is increased for all combinations of;- A/B hardware set up...

Working off the "international" part, how about a top down world map with puppies fired from the different countries that you have to defend against? Kind of a cross between Defcon and Missile Command, except with puppies.

Maybe a tad ambitious for a VIC game?

Have you seen the Video Game Name Generator ?
  • * Sinister Forklift Crusader
    * The Secret Weapon of the Hammer Extravaganza
    * Impossible Baking of Love
    * Disturbing Frisbee Quiz
    * etc.
TIGSource had a competition to make games based just on the names generated by this tool :lol:

Yes! Score! :D

BTW I knew nothing of the doctor guy, I just thought it was a cool name. It was the name I'd picked when I'd looked at doing a Java VIC emulator based on the JaC64 sources myself ;)

FWIW, JaC64 is GPL so I guess JaVic (I'd have gone with "Jarvic" myself ;)) is fine to use anywhere so long as the source is available as well. To compile the source, I'm using the NetBeans IDE that Sun provides with the JDK. I never got on with NetBeans' auto indent feature but I think th...

Awesome work! I'll see if I can whip up a web page with some of my own favourite games in it.

How likely is it that Blitz, Jetpac, RIP, Rock Man, Matrix or Star Defence will work with the emulator in it's current state? I think Star Defence might be a multi-load effort.

Yes, I think the best thing would be for the on-line arcade to be here at denial. Sure, I'd just do a few of my favourites to ... ahem ... check at work. Of course you can do what you want with mine... as long as you didn't go to RBAI. If RBAI is what I think it is, based on my location, then the a...

I'd want to use one of these emulators (when they're done!) to make some Vic games playable online on my website - I've a similar "online arcade" setup for another popular 8-bit computer. I presume that'd be OK ?

I don't believe it! I don't remember how long I've waited for a Java / applet VIC emulator, then I drop in to Denial for the first time in ages and there's not one but two in development :o

Good luck with your projects guys, I'll be keeping a close watch on this thread :)

Glad you liked my little site! It's been around for a while, but just recently re-done and re-launched. I'd be interested to know where you found the link?
