I remember when RS was getting rid of those things for $99-199 at the end... I'm kicking myself for not picking one up.

Yea yea yea... I saw that...

I'll probably have to get some help for the board layout, though. I'm not skilled in that, yet...

Yea, every VIC I've hooked up to my monitors always got that adjustment. There are actually two of them to adjust. One seems like it adjusts the output voltage of the signal, the other is for adjusting the color hue. I try to set all my vics, 64s, and 128s up to be the same (keep the tint/hue center...

With every vic-20 and 64 cart I own, I've used a soft pink pencil eraser to take the tarnish and nasties off the contacts. It's gentle enough that it won't wear away the plating, but abrasive enough to make 'em shine! After that, i use compressed air to get any eraser leftovers out, and finish with ...

Doppleganger... Dopple... Dope... Dopey... Whatever. :)

Well, remember Abyss? I thought "Dopple" sounded kinda neat, so I started using it way back when... Not sure if the original Dopple is still around, but I haven't had any run-ins with 'em. I first saw the handle when playing the version of The Great Gianna Sisters that was hacked to look k...

Whenever I'm deciding to sell something, the least I do is clean it up, so it at least looks halfway decent before selling it. I just don't like selling "dirty" stuff. Makes me look like a slob. :) People could get more money for a clean VIC (or anything) than they could one that is dingy,...

Has anyone actually watched the drive when it played the music? Does it step the head against the bump stop, or does it just move it back and forth between tracks 1 and 35? I've played it on a couple of my drives, hasn't affected the alignment. I have a feeling it just steps the motor at different s...

I've repaired a 1571, in which the prior owner tried to install one of those raw GCR nybblers... a socket that installs on the CIA chip... they ended up ripping off a bunch of traces, and it just took some time, a fine tipped soldering iron, and some really thin solid wire to fix it. I've been using...
