Re: New penultimate-plus-2-cartridge

The excitement quickly went away when I noticed the cartridge was damaged. I received mine yesterday. There were six layers of proper, protective, wrapping around it, so I fear you must have been very unlucky with your cartridge. I hope your replacement comes through quickly! Received mine this wee...

Re: What PCB layout software do you use?

I don't have a good answer for simulation... simulating a cpu in circuit means running code on the cpu which is beyond most simulators for pcbs. So normally just a few thought experiments and then build the pcb and try it out. Boards are only a couple of bucks these days so it doesn't take much to t...

Re: What PCB layout software do you use?

I use Diptrace primarily now but used Eagle for about 12 years. Depending on what you are up to, both have free versions which may cover your design. I don't know if either have the 6502 built into the libraries, but I can create libraries for any parts that you need if you decide to use either one ...

Re: Looking for DELL OPTIPLEX GX620 recovery CD - please hel

This is a wild shot, but you might have some success with slipstreaming the drivers into XP using something like nLite (http://www.nliteos.com/). Basically it is a tool that lets you tweak the XP install by adding or removing things from the iso. The older 1.4.x.x versions work nicely with XP. No gu...

The 1084 is where I've gravitated too for all my retro gaming goodness. Small and portable but great quality. I like the looks of the 1702, but not as capable.

I've still got my original vic-20, received xmas of '82. I put a lot of miles on that sucker before finally upgrading to a c64 (still got that one also) and then several Amiga 500 computers. At some point one of us kids (I think it was my brother) bashed two of the function keys off and they were re...

The PAL machine is a little bit faster. The NTSC machine makes better use of the screen. Actually, its the opposite of that. ;-) What do you mean by that? Of course it's possible to have higher resolution on a PAL screen, but with the default screen size, much of the TV screen is just wasted border...

Thanks for all the hard work. I'm going to put this collection to good use! It will take me much longer than an hour, I'm sure. When my kids hear me booting up the vic, Jelly Monsters takes up that much time all by itself. :D
