Re: New Release: Exit Plan Z 2

I have finally played Exit Plan Z 2 :) I am not sure I like it better than the first one, which was full of clever ideas, but it is certainly much more accessible. I played on the second difficulty level (cake walk) and made it on the first try: 53212 points, 6 rescued, 31 killed zombies. I will als...

Re: Work in progress: REALMS OF QUEST V

"Good artists copy. Great artists steal" -- Steve Jobs Doubtlessly all human achievements, whether in science, techonology or the arts, build on previous works. Visual art and music much more so than most people realize. The quote itself is yet another example  https://quoteinvestig...

Re: Work in progress: REALMS OF QUEST V

Sure it would be nice with origInal art but as you say, it would take forever (or alternatively be of really poor quality). There are great public domain art. This site has some lovely example from the 19th century http://florent.coste.free.fr/galerie/index.php?idx=1 I am not sure they will transfer...

Re: Rising Pacman demo

The version of pacman in this video looks very good indeed, it’s a pity the maze is not shaped as the arcade original. Agreed. I really hope they add the cut-scenes/interludes - they are sorely missed in both VIC and C64 versions/clones. Edit: 2014 version on Quikman actually has interludes! Nice. ...

Re: Rising Pacman demo

Aha, you are the guy that made the arcade perfect looking and (somewhat) playable C64-demo of Pac-Man :)
You may already be aware of a new WIP-Pac-Man for C64

Re: Super Mario Bros for VIC-20

Anyway, I made a small mockup of a sprite without raster effects: mario.zip At least he looks like Mario. Very nice. The original Mario is well designed and this definitely looks like him. Atarisofts C64-version of Donkey Kong shows that double-width pixels work well for Mario, but I am surprised h...

Very stylish! It also looks like it could evolve into some kind of Match-3 puzzle game :D

Re: New Release: Exit Plan Z 2

My focus on games from here is in action/adventure rpgs as I feel there is not enough for the Vic. My next game will be based loosely off of adventure for the 2600. It was one of my favorite games as a kid. I would also love more VIC game in the style of 2600 Adventure (a proper port would also be ...

Re: Vic-20 version of Stix?

Squeeze is sort of a minimalist version of Qix but it plays very differently and you will fail miserably if you approach it as a Qix game. I think Qix is a great game but I actually prefer Squeeze. I discovered it a year ago when it was one of the Qix inspired games of the first monthly VIC game clu...

Re: WIP: Pyrotech

I have finally tried your game and I found it pretty enjoyable. The controls can be frustrating as it is very easy to move a few steps more than intended, but it can also be viewed as part of the challenge and walls can be used to “bounce” around the screen instead of careful and tedious tap-for-tap...

Superb. Another new VIC-game that makes you wonder how it could have changed things if it was released back in the days.

Re: WIP: Manic Miner port

The death animation of the Kong screen was one of those anything-can-happen-in-this-game moments (which Perils Of Willy was sadly missing).
