Re: missile command
It's something I've been working on. Explosions and line drawings routines are mostly there and near fast enough to handle the action for 20 active ICBMs at 60fps. I haven't been able to make the time to work on it. I need to accelerate my time schedule for retirement

missile command
Playing atari missile command, and some side by side screen shots with unreleased vic version, just thought I'd share because it was a good time with a friend today and that trash pic TV is sure putting a nice picture out for the vic

Re: Does Pi1541 run with a VIC-20? (split/OT from: SD2IEC and Penultimate [...])
Hello. I too am curious if the pi1541 works with the vic20. I ordered a PCB kit from ebay and built my own. I can certainly post all the gory details, but will be brief here, curious if anyone has any suggestions for troubleshooting. I understand I should probably reach out on lemon64 as that is whe...

Re: Chuck Peddle passes away
Wow. I hopped on denial to scratch a little social itch on this cold winter evening and this was what I found first :( To say the 6502 was a huge part of my life would be an understatement. I regard these larger than life heroes of the personal computer revolution that I was so amazingly lucky to ha...

Re: Hardware assisted Games
I pretty much agree with everyone's points; although It does make me think. Someone here, or somewhere, made a wise point that anyone that even programs these old machines is doing so out of nostalgia or 'sport'. The sport comment I really loved. As a 'sport' I could see it being fascinating to abus...

Re: Hardware assisted Games
Goodness, that's impressive. That racing the beam style programming can do so much, if you can do it. When multiple sprites are on the same horizontal line ( I think 2600 only has 2 right? ), there is of course some flicker, but the nature of the game seems to make that not so common, so it really l...

Re: Panicman for 3k and 8k vic
I've been reworking the speeds to be as accurate to the arcade as possible now that I have the capability to run a full 60fps ( ntsc ). One thing I've been having questions about is the "Cruise Elroy" feature of blinky. Using the awesome Pacman Dossier as reference once again: https://www....

Re: Panicman for 3k and 8k vic
Thanks guys. I'm actually working on the code a bit now, so maybe I'll get a new version out and include pause and intermissions which I wanted. Apparently Jeff ( the music guy ) saw the cover and ordered a cassette drive off ebay because he wants a cassette now, lol. Nice job.

Odyssey 2 Speedway random thoughts
Does anyone remember the game "speedway" for the Odyssey 2? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA0ySQhzUeg My friend and I during a bout of nostalgia in the mid 90s played the heck out of this game. There was in theory a 'perfect' game. The perfect game was where you held full throttle immedi...

Re: New Release: Tank Battalion
I feel like a kid again destroying 8 bit tanks over the christmas holidays ; too bad this cool game didn't come with my VIC which I got for Christmas in 1982, lol. Nope, it was tank vs UFO after typing it in;ha. I saved a snapshot of the game; which ( I assume ) is just a memory dump and restores th...

Re: New Release: Tank Battalion
I got addicted playing your game tonight :) One odd thing happened; I don't know if VICE got mad at me, or something, but I'd been playing the game _quite_ a while and it seems like it ended up in a loop? The screen stopped mid game The monitor says it's looping in 25f8,25fb something like: .loop LD...

Re: New Release: Tank Battalion
Ok, this got me going; on VICE under linux with my core two duo at 2.6GHZ which claims full frame rate I got to level 4 with 18xxx darnit the screen flashed over before I could read it, is there no way to see the running high score? boy was level 3 hard, then it went back to the bricks on 4 and I go...
