Re: Vic20 repair after disk drive power up bad sequence

This is reinforced by the fact that two 1541s can talk to each other without a host computer connected at all. My point with this statement is that all IEC devices (computer, drives, printers) are designed to put power on the lines themselves and are all able to communicate once powered on. Since a...

Re: Vic20 repair after disk drive power up bad sequence

Can this REALLY break a VIC-20? Not that I've ever seen and I don't believe that it makes sense that it could. The IEC serial bus is a peer-to-peer bus with lines pulled high via resistors and pulled low by devices. If current was such that any device could be damaged then the peripherals would alm...

Re: Now that I have a Vic

It never really gets good reviews, but my single favorite game to just have some quick fun is the VIC-20 port of Centipede. I just find the controls and pace of the VIC version is just perfect for me. I do believe it's also on the Mega-Cart. If you are considering a Mega-Cart, they are truly awesome...

Re: Time Traveller: A Vic enthusiasts tale.

I very much enjoyed your write-up. Yes, you are not alone. I got my VIC with a datasette drive in late 1985 as a kid, when it was more or less being liquidated. I never made progress in machine code on the VIC in my early years as I only had the owner's manual and no outside resources. I mostly stay...

My first was in school!

The VIC-20 was the first computer I remember seeing and it was in elementary school. It wasn't school provided, though! It was my fifth grade teacher's. He had bought two of them and set them up in the front of his class room. Along with generic after-market cassette units. I was in awe, while the o...

Would like to claim interest as well. Is it officially for sale yet? (I'm almost never on Denial, not sure the procedures for sales/purchases on the site.) Greg PM sent! Backing out / declining interest. I mistakenly thought the Mediator PCI 3000D worked inside a 3000 desktop, e.g. 3000D, without &...

Hi all. Well the gsoravil is just a typical 8-char login-style hack of first/last. Though I used to go by Tramiel when I played Halo 1. The only nickname that really stuck on me was "Chucker" which at the time was a reference to my horrendous bowling style. :D I started on a VIC and made c...
