I will keep pictures and information coming as long as there is any interest, and time permits. There is also a add-on project called GCart 8k Internal. Also a remake from the 80's. However beefed up with new technology and features (16 color ram banks inspired by the VFLI graphics http://sleepingel...

Kananga: Thanks for the feedback.

Joshuadenmark: Lets see how it turns out when it is somewhat more finished. However, I am all for it if the interest is there.

The board is all routed and I am just putting the finishing touches on it.

... then there is software ...

Maybe a stupid question, but in the screen editor, how do I get the screen codes 128-255. I.e normally the inverted ones?

Super with the screen editor!! A few quick remarks ... The small things ... # Copy, Cut, Paste - Would be great if I could use Ctrl-X,C,V also. # When clikcing on the cells with Text option, great if the focus was on in the text dialog popping up. That way you could start typing directly. # If you s...

Almost there with the hardware ...

6 more nets to be routed. So perhaps prototypes can be ordered next week.

Thanks! I am a bit rusty regarding the VIC Kernel and how multi part games actually work, so I do not really understand "no drive emulation". My thought was that you would mount a URI towards a drive 8,9, whatever. Or a TAP towards 1. Then Open, input#, print#, load, save, verify etc would...

My hardware project :: GCart 2011

Hi, During my introduction (http://sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=497&start=315) I mention my newfound interrest in the VIC-20 together with my son, and ideas on a hardware project. Don't really know where this will land but feedback is always welcome. Anyway it has bee...

Thanks!

Seems reasonable. It is a bit strange that the userport is specified, but not the cartridgeport.

Hmm ... then my project is almost on the safe side.

Maximum current on the +5V for expansion

Hi,

Anybody how knows how much current the cartridge port can deliver? I have not seen any data on that, and given that there are atleast 2 different PSU available.

On the userport I have seen a statement on 100mA max.

While on the subject. Is it possible to enable tapatalk on the site? Most other forums I visit native in iPhone, iPad, Android, etc, with tapatalk.

As I understand it it works with most boards, and it is "only" to enable.

Hard to see from the picture, because of the resolution. I suppose that you will get a BoM (Bill of Materials) with the bare board. In any way, a starting point ... The resistors are pull down / pull up and typically in the range 10k ohm - 100k ohm. The "diodes" are actually capacitors for...

Hi, Thomas! Welcome to Denial! :) Thanks. How about 2 MB RAM? That would give 256 8K blocks. Nice would be the ability to assign each of the 256 blocks freely to BLK1..3 and BLK5 (accessible through four 8-bit registers). It would be a nice number with 8 bit. Actually it comes down to the fact that...

Well here goes ... My Nick is easy. TLovskog obviously comes from Thomas Lövskog. My first computer was actually a PET 2001 which was borrowed. It had twin disk and a monochrome monitor ... of course. The first computer I bought was a VIC 20 in 82 or maybe 83. I remember I paid 2300kr (around 240 EU...
