Re: Is Vic-20 = THE least powerful computer in history?
My first computer was a TimexSinclair 1000, I ended up using a huge rubber band to keep the 16k memory pack from crashing the computer.
I think that everyone is forgetting another system that couldn't compete with the VIC, the Mattel Aquarius. Although it was probably the C64 that killed it.

It's funny, I too wanted to experience all those other computers that I couldn't afford when I was a kid. :) Currently I have collected: Commodore Vic20 - 3 Commodore 64 - 2 Timex Sinclair 1000 - 1 (the first computer I owned) TI-99/4a - 2 Mattel Aquarius - 1 Tandy 200 - 1 Apple IIe - 1 Atari 400 - ...

There should be enough working C64s to go round. 17 million of them were made! I recently got one on ebay, working, with tape deck and a $hitoon of games for £36 including postage. I paid a little more as I wanted proof that it worked. You would think so, but all of the ones I have seen on Ebay hav...

My first computer was a TS1000 as a Christmas present in 1982. It was fun and all but with all the flakiness of the memory expansion, etc. I wanted some thing better. The Vic came on Christmas 1983 and it was so cool. Although I had to use a B/W TV at first, it was either that or wait for the family...

Yep, thanks. But I just don't have the tools or the chips to do a full hunt of the bad chips as he describes. :( I'm thinking on going ahead and touch up all the chip leads with my soldering iron and see if it's a cold solder joint. That is the only thing I can think of that would cause my good syst...

Commodore 64 sadness :(
I purchased two commodore 64's but they are both DOA. One I knew was iffy and I had planned on using it for parts. The other was supposed to be my good system. The seller even had pictures of it running programs ect. I was thinking that the only thing that could have killed it between there and here...

Well it sold for $212,267, and even got a send-off by the Woz.

I have the same expander, and at first had similar issues that you write about. I think it might be just dirty contacts on the ports. Try plugging and unplugging the carts several times and see if they work better. I haven't had any problems with mine since I did that. Currently I have the following...

Strange floppy disk problem *solved*
I have a later 1541 disk drive with the lever and I have been using it with no problems. I ordered a manual and demo disk for it so I could complete the set. I also bought some Verbatim 2SDD floppy disks still new in the box with plastic wrap to use with the drive. I thought that is would be cool to...

Your more then welcome to come on up. :) It's getting a bit chilly up here now, although not as chilly as it has been in years past. I was able to get the HesCard 20 to work just fine. I don't know how I was able to live without one all those years ago. ;) I was also finally able to test my 1541 and...
