Hi again,
Which components of the set would you be interested in?
I don't want to sell the VIC separately, but I could sell you the diskdrive, printer, datasette separately, since I have more than one of them.
Just let me know....thanks

Re: modded VIC 20 kernals?
On the C64, it is possible to try out a modified KERNAL without a permanent change on the mainboard by just doing a RAM copy and changing CPU port/PLA action to let the CPU access the RAM under the ROM. Alternatively, some involved circuitry in a cartridge can also replace the KERNAL from the outsi...

Re: modded VIC 20 kernals?
True, running Minimon in $9800..$9FFF certainly is a nice trick. :) However, the disadvantage is that it needs an additional cartridge which is blocking the expansion port, so you will also need an expander. In my case, I already have a kernal/eprom adapter and I can still add 4 more kernals to the ...

Re: modded VIC 20 kernals?
Thanks for the correction, you are right, it is the other way round, the C64 is not compatible with the 1540 drive, but the VIC is compabiel with the 1541 anyway, also without switching it back to 1540 mode.
So there is no need for kernal modding

Re: modded VIC 20 kernals?
Well, maybe there are some major differences in the designs of the VIC 20 and C64 kernals, but on a C64 I can switch between Jiffydos, normal system, Dolphindos, Prologicdos, Speeddos, TurboTape Kernal, etc, etc. without the computer crashing, even though there is ofcourse functionality removed in a...

modded VIC 20 kernals?
I wonder if there are any modded VIC 20 kernals around? Apart from Jiffydos as well as the Dead-Test and Ram-Test kernals (which are for diagnostics, only) I am not aware of any others? I am thinking about some mods like a built-in memory monitor (like the one from C64's Dolphindos?), or a built-in ...

Re: [FOR SALE]: Commodore VIC20/VC20 set with diskdrive, ramexpansion, printer, datasette, joystick, etc.
Not at this time. I would really like to sell it all in one set, but if no buyer comes up within a couple of weeks or months, then I might also consider ripping it apart and selling the components individually. (which would perhaps even bring me more $ for it, but also more work, and a lesser good f...

Re: looking for 8KB game cartridges with joystick support
Thanks! I know this list (FUNET/Zimmers), but not sure which of them support a joystick? Only tried Radar Rat Race, which does, and (I think it was) Sky is Falling, which does not? I would like to make several Multi-Carts, two with 8x 8k games, and two with 4x 16k games. Each of both with joystick s...

looking for 8KB game cartridges with joystick support
Hello,
I have a 'Multi-Cartridge' (using a 64KB 27C512 Eprom), which I would like to feed with 8x 8KB VIC games, which support joystick input for playing.
Is there maybe a list with all known 8KB cartridges for the VIC, which also shows if they do support a joystick or not?
Thanks!

cartridge questions
Hi VIC Lovers, I recently had a look at VIC (game)cartridges, and noticed that most of them are 8K, which use Memory Location BLK5 $A000-$C000, and don't require any other additional ram. Some also seem be 16K ones, which seem to occupy BLK5 $A000-$C000, as well as BLK3 $6000-$8000, wich no addition...

Jiffydos VIC 20 PAL and Jiffydos 1541 ?
Hi VIC fans, I am wondering if a PAL VIC-20 with Jiffydos installed (PAL version) will actually work together flawlessly with a 1541 drive with Jiffydos installed as well? Afaik a PAL VIC-20 runs roughly 25% faster than a PAL C64, so therefore the 1540 has a different rom with correct timing for the...

Re: Flickering or Offset but Correct Characters
This looks to me like bad contact of the VIC.
I had very similar picture today in my VIC-20 which I use for testing.
The problem was gone after I bent the pins to correct position (a bit inward to make better contact in the original socket), and re-seated the VIC.
